Thought I was alone with this problem - only difference with me is I've had it for around 4 months now. Was previously hitting 700+ fps easily. Now in spawns it's around 200, then drops down as low as 50 fps in mid fights. Although no where near as bad as some of the others posted in this thread, it's pretty annoying. >_>

Aye. The MSI was far too clunky and heavy for me. I purchased it a couple years ago with the intention of using it mainly at home. Having recently bought a desktop I now need something which is much more portable. Screen size doesn't matter since when I require a large screen I can just connect it to projectors at uni/work, hence I'm looking at this much smaller alternative.
@Prototypes
Aye, I have come across xoticpc before. My main issue, being in the UK, is Import Tax (and shipping costs). Alongside that, the cost and time involved in returning the item should anything occur (in terms of Warranty etc) is something I'm not to keen on. If anyone knows of similar sites within Europe however, it would be greatly appreciated. The only companies I know of that provide custom laptop builds are Overclockers and PC Specialist (since they're both UK based).
That's right. Looking to purchase a new laptop and came across this little beast. Just wanted to ask whether anyone has any experience with said laptop (it has various other names too; same chassis, different name). Done some searching for a bit and the most significant issue seems to be temperatures, which have all been fixed with the use of decent cooling stands.
Also, I need to try to figure out what I should build to get the best bang for my buck from here: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/2845/
Obviously it will be used for playing TF2 (and perhaps a couple other not very graphically intensive games) but also video/photo editing alongside the usual word processing etc. I'm unsure whether it's worth me just going all out and max'ing out pretty much everything...seems kind of wasteful. I would def. need at least 500GB of HDD space. Whilst I have no set budget, something around the £1000 mark would be ideal. Going over by a hundred quid or so shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Any ideas?
Before anyone asks, I need something very small and portable for uni/work use. Having looked at ultrabooks, I've come to the conclusion I can probably squeeze more horsepower out of this little thing than ultrabooks in a similar price range.
On a side note, looking to sell my current laptop if anyone is interested. Will take £700 + shipping for it. - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281133529973

It seems I have been unable to gather enough players in the time frame I was given.
Heres hoping the other individual who applied to captain Pakistan has a full lineup to rep us ;3
Will probably begin searching for players to form a 6's team for the inevitable 6v6 Nations Cup! :D
If you are interested in 6's, feel free to add me ^_^
Just wait for the Steam Summer Sale. Should start any day now...
A scout should be able to win 90% of the time if they simply chip damage. Their speed and double jump ability should allow them to gain terrain advantage in most situations, minimising the possible splash damage they take.
That's right ladies. I got the go ahead to lead a Pakistani team for the Highlander Nations Cup being hosted by ETF2L. For details see the following links:
- http://etf2l.org/2013/06/25/highlander-nations-cup-2-captain-applications-updates/
Anywho, the problem now is finding Pakistani players...Yeah...Uhh...Currently at a grand total of 3 individuals (including myself)...
So please, drop a line here or add me on steam (http://steamcommunity.com/mza08) if you were born, bred or have significant family from Pakistan. Need to get a full-ish roster by Saturday afternoon.
Here is a little excerpt from my application/request for a Pakistan National Team:
I would like to request the creation of a Pakistan National Team that will be led by yours truly. I feel that the negative connotations associated with people from a Pakistani background (often involving the extremist angle of blowing people up and shit) can be negated through the creation of a team full of Pakistani's who instead of blowing up people in real life, will be fragging people in a game (much better, don't you think?). This will inevitably create positive publicity and the worlds media will go crazy and TF2 will become huge and shit. My previous roles in customer-facing and team-based environments have allowed me to excel at my already developed core competencies, increasing my communication skills and teamwork as a whole.
It's pretty decent. Good beat, but seems too get repetitive...and that's from someone that can normally listen to fairly repetitive music xD
grapeOverall well made video, the pacing and angles were both well done given you couldn't use smooths. However, the recording quality could be improved (dx8, no frame blending, no noticeable cc).
My personal preference:
- up the in-game sounds on some clips, particularly ones highlighting frags in pov
- use crosshairs
- work on the color correction, you can basically do it all with just color curves and a little bit of saturation and contrast
- since you look like you know what you're doing w/ the graphics, kerning on the outro credits for this and the last video bothered me, too spaced
- as a side note, even for people who don't record with crosshairs, i think the damage indicators in frag videos are very distracting and unnecessary, you can remove those by adding this into HudDamageIndicator in the hudlayoutThat way you don't get the big red wedges all over your pretty video and it won't be different between pov's and stv's."minimumwidth" "0" "maximumwidth" "0"
Again, very well done for your second frag movie.
Highly appreciate the points.
gr8stalinThese rhymes are REAL, too.
bars 4 dayz :3
Also, to everyone else regarding dx8...Yeah, I keep forgetting to change the dxlevel when I start recording >_> Will keep an eye on it in the future.
