#3 Volunteer work in Off Topic

In college it was fairly normal to try to "clean up" the river, so a large number of hipsters and various other college types would descend on our local waterways, in my case, after a few beers, and try to clean all the plastics and bits out while getting absolutely filthy, and also not being able to drink the water for fear of being poisoned. However, if we ever found a 2 liter bottle with the cap on, you had to stop and get the DNR officer, because it could have been used for making meth amphetamine, and they didn't want anybody exploding themselves.

lol I feel like text would be more suitable than my vocal telling of said stories because I'd have to put something going on in the background for a video that would be pretty boring over all. Maybe I should start a blog lol.

Some notes and updates:

I am doing demoreviews again so if you would like to submit a demo do it here or on steam (I'd say you could use the youtube inbox but it's a huge pain). I'll do whatever, I may also enlist some of my friends to help out if you're of a mind - always good to have added perspectives.

I *have* played sunshine at this point - if it survives the next ESEA map pool vote I will do a sunshine map guide (I'm procrastinating because those map guide videos actually take a while to make lol).

Also I'm taking suggestions lol if anybody wants a particular kind of video or would like to see a particular kind of content let me know - I'm in a TF2 kinda mood, but I'm open to all ideas.

#120 Girl gamer shows cat on stream; almost goes blind. in Off Topic

Yeah if you're one for details Maison, they do it because regular injecting has its problems, you have to tie off whatever limb you're injecting yourself in or you'll spurt blood everywhere or blow out your vein - or if you really fuck it up, kill yourself (even discounting the drugs). Furthermore, it'll leave marks, and especially after repeated injections the injection site will become noticeably discolored and painful (tracks/drag marks). So they inject directly into their eye balls because it's painless (your eye doesn't have any inherent pain sensory capability) and because it won't leave any marks on your body.

Your eyes can take a lot more damage than most people apparently think. We wouldn't have gotten very far as a species if our eye balls constantly got knocked out by getting them roughed up a bit.

She'll definitely have a sore eye for a while and although you wouldn't necessarily *need* to even go to a doctor for anything like this, you'd most definitely want to (being as the eye would be EXTREMELY sensitive to air for a while). On the bright side, your eye doesn't have the ability to report damage beyond air exposure, so if she had any real pain, it was probably the muscle or eye lid that took the damage. There's a distinct difference between bite/scratch related pain and your eye being exposed to the air because your cornea was ruptured (you'll know beyond all doubt that your cornea was ruptured believe me lol).

The bleeding looks pretty bad, but any time your eye gets penetrated it'll at least go red or bleed all over the place (there's a lot of blood in them).

The biggest problem for her would be infection. You can get large chunks of metal, even BBs blasted into your eye - some heroin addicts even prefer to shoot into their eyes (they stick the needle in there) and the thing will go on functioning just fine so long as infection isn't allowed to set in.

---EDIT---

After looking at her twitter it looks like whatever happened mostly got her eye lid, so even less to be concerned about. She does say they told her it hit her eye a bit as well - and to come back if it shows signs of infection (I assume they pry gave her anti-biotic eye drops, which are a lot less like drops and a lot more like brown sludge to smear in your eyes lol).

#84 ESEA S17 Open Power Rankings Week 7 in News

Once upon a time there was a guy named Marxist. He had mostly stopped playing TF2, a game he used to love, mainly because he had grown to believe that everybody was bad at it and generally not fun to be around whilst being bad at it. He took to playing War Thunder, watching movies, and waking up early. Then a fateful message came from one BSC who had played with Marxist in the past. He explained that he was going to gut his team and needed a medic. I had enjoyed playing with BSC in the past, and despite his having virtually killed that old team, he jumped to a better roster, and that's fair-play in the world of "let's build a team that's good."

This time however, was even better, as he's now departed so as not to play shortly after having cut 3 people and gotten me to pay up.

And that's how I came to be on the same team as monkeysuit and it hasn't died yet.

#16 It's all dull in Off Topic

Sounds like burn out to me. I did a whole bunch of shit in high school, and after some medical conditions made me stop doing shit for a few months (had to have back surgery) I realized I quite liked not doing so much shit. I also found that many of the reasons I did a lot of the things I was involved in were for reasons other than "I want to do this." It's part of growing up and asserting yourself. It's better to go to college not knowing what you want to do or having doubts - than to get 3 years deep into a degree and discover that you hate it.

#109 Swatting- who to blame? in Off Topic

It's not credible at all, the national report is a fake news website - like the onion. There's no way in hell, furthermore, that they'd have already found, arrested, tried, and sentenced the perpetrator of a criminal act that occurred only a few days ago.

#99 Swatting- who to blame? in Off Topic

Was he taken to jail at all? I don't see anything going on the video to suggest he was any more than temporarily detained for questioning (which is very different from being arrested). What could they possibly have charged him with? Some states also allow you to gag the news paper's ability to publish record of your arrest (in some circumstances) if it's something you're really that worried about. Detentions don't go on your record, nor do they typically go in the news paper (although the swat operation and the hoax would). Apparently several high profile celebrities have been swatted as well (Tom Cruise, Justin Bieber, etc).

Also I should point out miwo that it's actually pretty easy to file a civil suit against somebody without a lawyer. In this case it wouldn't be about monetary compensation (unless the judge is feeling really nice) it would be about punishing the perpetrator over and above what the government will already do - and all you'd have to do is pay the small fee to file the claim and take a day off (in kootra's case) from streaming to show up in court. Once they sort out who did it. All you have to do is prove that you were damaged - there's video and print evidence in this case that he was damaged lol. Also, because these damages were inflicted due to a willful or malicious act even bankruptcy wouldn't absolve you from paying the damages (as long as the judge notices it or you were to file a complaint with the relevant bankruptcy court - which I would also wager isn't that hard).

#78 Swatting- who to blame? in Off Topic

It depends on the state really - somebody calling a swat team on you to fuck with you surely could be pretty easily proven in court and it'd be pretty easy to show that you were damaged as a result of the actions of the caller. In the same way that I'd be allowed to sue somebody who fucks up my car or writes/says nasty (untrue) things about me.

Also the amount of "cop hate" is directly related to the amount of shitty things they do. It shouldn't come as a surprise that the more often force is utilized in policing the more people will grow to distrust and dislike the police in general. Thankfully, I live in an extremely rural area so everybody basically knows everybody, so even if you are being an asshole the police usually just talk it out and 80% of their job is wrangling lost farm animals lol. I've been arrested twice for criminal non-civil acts and twice for disobedience and I've never even been so much as thrown to the ground lol.

#50 Swatting- who to blame? in Off Topic

Well, on the bright side he didn't get shot, and has grounds for a lawsuit on several accounts. His 4th amendment rights were violated when they looked at his phone without a warrant (even if you're arrested your phone is still protected until they get a warrant for that - one of the few things the supreme court has agreed upon 9-0 lol). Not to mention damages against the guy who maliciously made the call, if found, is gonna get boned with a potential felony.
