#73 Opinions on push-to-talk in TF2 General Discussion
SpaceGhostsCoffeelanskytry to play a round of mge without letting go of your push to talk bind as an example, for most people this will be very uncomfortableI can agree with this, I still use my side of the mouse push-to-talk, but when I am in mumble with friends mgeing, if I am talking a lot during it I will do noticeably worse. It might be some combination of being distracted and holding my mouse differently, but it is noticeable

I had a friend I used to mge a lot with and when we played out of mumble he'd usually dunk on me. However, when we were both in mumble, talking having a good time, he'd stop having good movement and always strafe to his left. I asked him if his ptt was v or something like that and he got confused and asked me how I knew. IMO m5 is the best way to go since shift can be used by other games.

#5 the soldier screen shake thing in Q/A Help
trippai hit more rockets when i do it than when i don't

it's a noticeable difference too but it probably doesn't work for everyone

"after firing a rocket" flicking or not flicking after you shoot it doesn't matter if you've already shot it.

#6 Can I Get Some Help With My Cl_ Settings? in Q/A Help
wareyacl_cmdrate 66
cl_updaterate 66
cl_interp 0.018181818 // or 0.033333333
cl_interp_ratio 1.2 // or 2.2

cl_predictweapons 1
cl_lagcompensation 1 // DO NOT EVER, EVER, ****EVER**** DISABLE THIS
cl_predict 1 // DO NOT EVER, EVER, ****EVER**** DISABLE THIS

cl_pred_optimize 1 // Slightly improve hitreg in certain situations at high framerates at expense of an extremely slight performance reduction (default is 2)

cl_smooth 1 // Whether to smooth out the location of the PoV when it's knocked around by the server: rocketjumping, airblasting, etc
cl_smoothtime 0.0075 // ~7ms PoV smoothing window, should be enough to prevent microstutter without affecting reflexes. Default is 0.1 (100ms)
rate 120000 // Prevent choke when it's not necessary. Lower this value below the default if you have extremely low bandwidth internet (e.g. 56k dialup: 56000)

glhf

Didn't people used to say not to use smooth? What are the downsides?
Also, does 1.2 and 2.2 still not work on certain servers?

#18 what to do after exams in Off Topic

I was having this dilemma today and decided to do classes over the summer instead of getting a job. Probably gonna get English out of the way so I have less to do in the fall. Looks like a win-win. Sooner you contact your counselor about it the better though.

#20 Best large cloth mousepad? in Hardware
gfantomIf you're willing to spend up to $35 on a mouse mat, then people will recommend Zowie GTF-X (not sure if this is big enough for you, however).

I heavily recommend not getting the GTF-X. For being as simple as a mouse pad Zowie really screwed up, at least for me. Tried for weeks to get the thing to stop curling up HEAVILY on the sides with no success and it also slides around all over the place on my desk. First few days I used it it was incredibly fast and after that it got slower and slower and slower until it felt like a completely different pad. Wash it and it's super fast again. The thing has so many problems and is really weird imo.
The 36" Glorious pad is what I use now and it's pretty awesome, although the first week or so it attracts a lot of dust.

#13 Scout Movement : Standing Still in TF2 General Discussion

I was in dm as soldier and was fighting enigma when he was scout. I had height advantage and ran out of rockets. He instantly stood still and stared at me. The second I went to fire thinking he was just gonna keep standing there he moved. It was timed perfectly and super fucking confusing. If you do it you'll have to time it realllly well.

#8 mouse bungees in TF2 General Discussion

I just bought the Meco one because it had the most reviews on Amazon and I like it. Just buy one. Better than taping like I was doing.

#4 Looking for new mouse with a few specifics in Hardware

I put the second set of mouse feet on my EC2-A to try to make the LOD even lower and it can still track with me hovering it off the pad. Not sure how the Hayate affects LOD though so your results could vary. I'd go with the G303 or the EC2-A.

#1 Surround Sound Help in Hardware

Just got an AD500x and Sabre U2 DAC for Christmas and can't figure out why the surround sound seem so bad. Stuff like this was incredibly immersive with my Razer Kraken and some what so on my G930 but I can't hear the direction of anything now. What am I doing wrong? AD500x should have a very good sound stage.

#9 Soundwhoring in tf2? in TF2 General Discussion
wpminnowsShpeeisme(Soundwhoring, for those who don't know, is basically using sound like footsteps or rockets being shot to determine where people are.)
pretty sure it's just called 'listening'

If things always sound like they're coming from in front of you then listening won't do shit. Sound configs are a way to optimize sound to give you a better sense of where everything is. Default probably isn't what's best and you may be missing certain sound queues that you otherwise wouldn't with different settings. That's what he's talking about.
