Hey, guys.
The NA 6v6 Newbie Mix admins are excited about the potential of many new players joining mixes over the coming weeks. We'd really appreciate the help of the TF2 community in keeping the learning process for new players as streamlined and easy as possible. Because of this, we need coaches. For the past couple months, coaches have been harder to come by than normal, and that really makes it hard on the admins to keep things running smoothly.
Basically, if you have ~2 hours that you aren't planning on doing anything with tonight, come coach. Coaching is easy, and the requirements are pretty low. If you have 8 non-forfeit wins in a single season of ESEA-Open, you can coach. You can also coach if you've ever played a season of IM/Invite.
Newbie mixes happen every Friday night and are where a large number of our community members, myself included, got started in competitive TF2. Additionally, there will be raffle prizes for coaches. So come on out!
Tonight's mixes are live. Come join in mumble at chi4.tragicservers.com 64737. This weeks raffle prize is a steam game of your choosing.
For people that didn't know already, I will be going to FLAN.
BE THERE

People complaining about the shortstop probably haven't tried it. If you got close enough to actually do that to anyone in a competitive game, you'd just be feeding.
The only issue I have is the medic speed thing, and I am not totally against it. I want to see how it plays out first.
"Of course we won! We are AMERICANS! If you didn't win, I would need to see your birth certificate!"
This update has way more political jabs than I think anyone would have reasonably expected.
- All Mediguns allow the Medic to match the speed of their heal target
wh.... what?
OH MY GOD BADLANDS IS FINALLY ALMOST PLAYABLE AHHHHHHHHHHH
for the first time in my life, i will be purchasing a taunt.
that trombone taunt is fantastic. i love the idea that he's just carrying around a freaking trombone for when something ridiculous happens at all times.
Mercyless-p sure the asian team if went would wipe the floor with the garbage div2 european teams and only lose to top 5 if they attended.
Definitely agree. The Asian scene is way smaller than the OZ scene (at least from the numbers I've seen), and there just isn't enough competition to compete at the top level.
Would an Asian superteam beat me/ my team? Yes.
Would it beat invite/ prem teams on lan? No.
I really would prefer to be wrong rather than right on this. Prove me wrong @ i61.
Not being top 16 may be a bit of a stretch (depending on EU turnout), but watching AsiaFortress demos is like watching bubble open teams trying to get into playoffs. It's all you can do to not just scream at your monitor.
There's nothing wrong with smaller scenes not being quite as competitive, but I would not be surprised if an Asian superteam weren't able to compete with many/any teams outside of group stages.
Sad that we'll never know. (Until next year???)
Don't know why miggy is getting minus fragged. Perhaps a reflex folks have developed when dealing with other UGC admins on the forums? :P
Miggy, imo, is probably one of the most reasonable guys in UGC at the moment. Nothing in his post was even remotely controversial. UGC is overwhelmingly bad, but their OW division has some serious potential being led by Mig.
i want to get off populism's wild ride
Back when I did regular LANs with friends in high school, we almost exclusively played AoE2 (and AoE2 HD when it came out). Later in the night as people crashed, the folks that stayed up later would play minecraft and then sometimes me and my 1 tf2 friend would play mge (or arena 1v1 if i didn't want to set it up).
Me and my friends also played through a really small indie MORPG once, which is super fun. Some of them stayed up all night to finish it. It was a game I helped in the development process in (and engineered the sound/ made the music for) when I was like 13ish, and it is actually surprisingly decent on lan.

It wasn't originally a lan game, but I could probably hook you guys up with the server files that you would need to run it if you're ever interested.
Mainly AoE tho
