fun fact: the dog one in this post is the first one i didn't have to move, resize, or rotate at all out of the hundreds of these i've done over the past two years
I've been messaging everyone that I can, but I want to make it very clear: there's no pushing things back anymore. Lower brackets, round six is due tonight. Upper bracket, you have round five due tomorrow. Lower bracket, if you win round six tonight, you will have to play tomorrow night as well. If you're still in the tournament, please be getting your Saturday afternoon/ early evening cleared up. One change to the calendar: lower bracket round 6 will be starting at noon est on Saturday, not 11. That would have been cruel.
Thanks guys, get hyped!
the concepts need to be understood by each and every player as well. being in a situation where you teach the concepts over and over again can get repetitive and it feels like work. nobody wants to do work on their spare Friday nights
If a tiny fraction of the open+ players (let's say a tenth of them, roughly 50ish people) coached in mixes, you wouldn't have to do it to a point of where it gets dull. It'd just be a thing that you do when there's nothing to do on a Friday night, maybe once every couple of months.
I personally don't understand how an invite or high IM player could invest so much time into the game and not come around for an hour every couple of months to recruit new players. Seriously, if any one of the players from any esea lan stopped by and hung out with the noobies even if it was for a few minutes in the add-up lobby, that would be such a good experience to have. The thought that players that are the best-of-the-best are excited about new players joining the scene would be a serious moral booster, but instead the mixes often turn into a "let's see what mid open player the admins can scrounge up from their friends list", and that just kinda sucks.

freakindrshdwpuppetI would love to go and help out again, but it looks like I have a big midterm the following monday and I cant do that to myself so :/wtf, you already know your exam schedule for the spring semester???
If that changes though, bet yo ass I will be there
i know my exams schedule for my next fall semester, what school doesn't have that info available 3 months in advance lol
when the first thing your config does is change your fov to anything lower than 90, no one is going to take your cfg seriously.
edit: also, pastebin it dude lol
Yeah, valve choked out quality communities and enabled the shitty pinion servers through their quickplay rules. They've tried to fix that recently, but it's far too late. I sucks, but that's just how it is :(
GetawhaleOne thing that upsets and concerns me is the number of players who are latching on to this and Lange's thing as being "proof" that TF2 is dying or competitive is dying. I've had random people asking me if TF2 is dying, and that concerns me.
Certainly if it's the opinion of some that the game is dying, that's their opinion. But people are taking this as fact.
It's just people who have never experienced a lull in the game like those of us who have been around a bit longer. I've been asked this on stream a lot and the answer is as simple as "no lol, this happens every year or so"

tf2 strategizing ft. extv youtube comments
Personally I lost interest after watching for just a few minutes. It wasn't awful or anything, just very dull. The players might be having fun, but it was boring as anything to spectate.
I'm all for them trying it more, maybe that was just because they were all trying new things or something. I personally feel like it won't go anywhere, though.
Check and make sure that your mixer volume for tf2 isn't all the way down.
Validate your files.
Edit: oh crap yall are fast
The tournament is whittling down in size to where it's much easier to message all the captains, so I've been doing that. If you haven't gotten a message from me about this tonight, just remember that EVERYONE has a match due tomorrow night! We're nearing the last few non-finals rounds, and it's important for everyone to have these played on time so we're prepared for the final event!
Saltysally1nobody wants to coach mixes because the admins hardly administrate lmao. Last time i was there you had open players stacking teams and wouldn't ban them because "they're fine". us open players aren't new we're just bad and theres other resources available.
I don't know how long ago you did this, because alosec and company have really cracked down on those people. Obviously there will always be idiots that wish they were actually good enough to stomp anyone but noobies, but it's certainly not a norm.
tstmI'd be up for teaching pocket/roamer but I don't know how time differences would work!
The coaches teach everyone, but only a broad, simple understanding of the roles are needed to coach.
You're not going to improve in DM with a mentor unless you're really really really bad.
Play some DM. Play on the ground, don't counter jump, don't spam from highground.
