#119 OH SHIT in TF2 General Discussion
Mallory

I played in UGC for several months before learning p much anything about ESEA/ETF2L/TFTV/etc. I'm not the only one.

For the few people on this forum that may not know: I ran newbie mixes as a (the?) head admin for a few years. The notion that the players at the lowest level of competition automatically know about ESEA is straight up wrong. Very few people, if anyone, has had the chance to so personally talk to so many new players as myself, and overwhelmingly the players either don't know about ESEA or have this mentality of "it's impossible, they're all so good!"

The general success of our team drives and the retention those players (and occasionally those teams) in the ESEA league is evidence that the only real barrier of entry into ESEA is one that has been built up in UGC culture for years.

If UGC really want to play the "we're doing it for the good of the community and nothing else! you should be grateful!" card that I've seen so many times over the years, maybe you guys should stop deleting shit from the forums that lets these (potentially highly competitive) new players know that comp tf2 is so much more than UGC.

UGC serves a great purpose that you laid out in your post well. If your post represents an official UGC stance, then the league should recognize its purpose as the "fun" or "more casual" league that people play in because of their inability to play in ESEA "financially, emotionally, or time-management wise(sic)". Provide your players with tools to improve and eventually work their way into Open over time if they don't meet the three criteria you listed as causing people to play in UGC.

You seem like a good person and a great admin, as many people within the UGC org are. I hope that you and others can be the voices of reason that push us towards being the more sustainable, less split up community that EVERYONE wants. :)

also, don't buy junk food to put in your house ever again. buy carrot chips or something instead to snack on if you're hungry. you'll find that you're hungry a lot less often

#10 healthy eating thread in Off Topic

my default "i need to eat fairly soon but i also dont want to feel like a sack of shit immediately after but also i dont have a lot of money so it has to be only a few bucks of food" is the following:

- make some white or brown rice while doing the rest of this (google it if u dont know how)

- lightly fry some fresh green beans and strips of red bell pepper in a pan with some olive oil and a pinch of salt. remove and put on plate to the side when hot but still fairly hard
- in the same pan, fry however much chicken loin (cut halfway in half to make thinner) you want, probably on like medium high for a few minutes on each side. put a little salt and pepper on the chicken while it cooks
- take out chicken and put with veggies on plate
- make sauce in same pan taken off the heat, with roughly 2 parts hoisin sauce to one part sweet chili sauce w/ a small amount of soy sauce. add some brown sugar if you want it sweeter. add in pepper flakes if you want it spicier. warm until it gets a little bit gooey
- shred chicken then throw all the stuff from the plate back in the pan, and put pan back on heat. stir until everything is super hot again
- plate with rice on bottom, chicken veggie sauce stuff on top

takes like 20 minutes total (length of time to cook the rice) after you do it a couple times and is super good tasting, with the ability to change from something really sweet to pretty spicy, depending on how you're feeling

#1 HELP: Vote for Camp One Step in #p4a2017 in Off Topic

HELLO TEAMFORTRESS.TV!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OabI-M-6gJc

I want to ask a quick favor of you guys. The “Project for Awesome” is an annual event in which online communities promote, learn about, and give to a wide variety of charities. When I thought about the TF2 community and what charity best represents us, there was no hesitation in my first thought: Children’s Oncology Services/ Camp One Step.

Through the hard work and dedication of the Tip of the Hats team, our community has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Camp One Step. Let’s inform the wider internet community of the great behind the camp--and maybe even raise some money for it.

PLEASE take less than a minute of your time and go vote for Children’s Oncology Services!! And if you have some friends or know of any tf2 other subcommunities (discord, forums, circlejerks, etc) please share this with them and ask them to vote!

and take smitty's above advice. if you can make it work, do it. last year was one of the best weekends i've ever had

#26 rest in peace miggy in Off Topic

Miggy had one of the most infectious positive personalities in TF2. It was so easy to smile around him, both in person and online. Absolutely loved him.

If any of you guys need someone to talk to, please reach out to me on steam, twitter dm, or tftv message. Love ya'll, too.

_segfaultTF2Stadium seems to be offline... Any news on that?

Sorry about the delay!!

Please @ us on twitter (@tf2stadium), send me a message via steam/discord/tftv dm, or reach out to another person you know worked on stadium if this is the case again. We will look into whatever problem is causing issues asap. This problem was just the result of one of our systems crashing in a weird way, and was fixed by the tech folks very quickly after someone reached out to me directly. People still use the site to configure servers (or play with friends on one of our TragicServers), so we want to keep uptime as high as possible!

Thanks guys, and enjoy your lobbies :)

Maxi-KevinIsPwncu@? (:
hello kevin last year you paid for the uber/lyft back to the airport and i said i'd give you all the change i had in my pocket as a thank you but i forgot and i realised afterwards it was $1.14

you're still entitled to it if you want

That's ok, maxi. The lengthy Brexit debate you guys had (and how uncomfortable it made the driver) were WELL worth the cost of that uber.
