fatswimdudekevin, any reason youre not allowing billdozer to coach? yeah hes a meme but he has both IM experience and open playoffs experience, (yeah it was low IM but at least his team finished a season) and would really be a pefectly good coach for newbies.
If I didn't have reasons, I wouldn't have said no. If someone messages me saying "billdozer is trying to get in contact with you" but "he's banned from TFTV so he cant post there", that is a pretty big red flag for me. Someone that is deemed unfit to post on forums generally isn't the person I want leading a group of new players into the community. Even if that weren't the case, he's come in to newbie mixes in the past and trolled/ ignored admins. It's just not going to happen.
fatswimdudeif you want to restrict it to a higher skill level then do that but dont deny people who meet the requirements.
I'm lucky in that this community is generous enough to where there is a pretty large pool of coaches I have to choose from. So there will be several people who meet the requirements that don't make it.
FUNKeIf i'm interested in being matched into a team, but haven't previously taken part of Newbie mixes, Would that be alright? Of course I'd be willing to participate in mixes down the road, but i've only participated in other pugs and matches.
Yes this is a community-wide recruitment project, so everyone will be able to sign up. It is highly recommended that you go to a few newbie mixes to solidify the basics if you need to though.
StevieMan I'd so love to go up for this, but I really just can't cuz my schedule. IF this is successful, would you guys do this mmm perhaps next season or so?
Yes.
valtroidThis seems like a really cool thing and I'd love to participate as a player.

razeacutally, question: will teh coaches find a server, will you guys do that, or will the players? how about scrims? will teh teams schedule them themselves?
and are these teams designed to exist for more than one season?
Serveme is a thing, and I have a few rcons that I can give if anyone really needs one.
SmesiOne question.
Let's say i want to join that newbie team because i'm always looking to get better and i've been playing Newbie Mixes for months now and some other guy wants to join that Newbie team and has only played one or two Newbie Mixes.
Does he/she have the same chances as me to join that team?
We look at experience both in newbie mixes and out of newbie mixes to determine that, so no I guess? There will be several teams. Odds are, you will get on one of them.
TheMelonThis sounds interesting, I may give it a shot. One question though.
How will teams be picked? Will the coaches pick teams? Will newbies create there own teams? Will teams be created by the newbie mixes staff?
It be nice if coaches got to create teams in my opinion. They would be able to set up 6 players with a solid idea of the game, and that they know and like.
We will be creating a pool of newbies and sorting them out into teams of similar capabilities. More experienced mentors get to pick teams first, then the others.
Hey, guys. For those of you who may not know, I am an admin for the NA 6v6 Newbie Mixes. This coming season, we’re wanting to promote players to get straight into ESEA. One of the ways we’re doing that is through a Newbie Mix team drive. Basically, we help newbies find other newbies that want to improve over a season of ESEA-Open. We’ll pair six newbies and a mentor together for every team we make.
The reason for this post is that we need willing players with Open playoff+ experience to guide the newbies along this process and help them hurdle over the barriers of entry that seem so large to a newer player. This includes signing them up, showing how to get fees and premium paid, explaining the client, going over demos once the season actually starts, and answering any questions they might have.
This may seem like a lot, but I can’t imagine it would take more than an hour or two a week if that's all the time you have to spare. If you’re interested in helping out, post a comment here or PM me on TFTV.
Also, we’ll be trying to hook up particularly young players with sponsors to help pay their fees, because $30 is one of those aforementioned barriers of entry. Contact me if you are interested in that as well.

Who'd have thought that a thread titled "Donald Trump" would turn into a shitfest??
Low in coaches this week, please coach if you have some time tonight.
DataWow, I honestly didn't expect you'd go this low Kevin. Either way, if you feel like judging me for something that happened 2 years ago, feel free.
If by "go this low" you mean share facts and point out that if you had 0 coding skills and visibly poor leadership skills 10 months ago then this might be too aggressive a project for you to pursue, then I'm terribly sorry that I've stooped so low. How dare I.

This is the most basic of sites that you'd typically see in some kind of programming class or tutorial series. Also, it didn't do anything when I tried the one function it has.
If you're taking this as an insult, it means (to me at least) that nothing has changed with you. I'm not intending to harass you or anything, but when your projects involve the tf2 community, I'm not going to sit idly by when I see a project that is most likely going to fail. I don't want to see my friends put time/ effort into creating/ trying out this site if it's not going to ever get to a finished state.
DataFair enough, I'm done.
I'll let TF.TV blindness take care of itself.
Vibhavp (one of our devs for tf2stadium) pointed me toward this thread. For anyone with a short term memory (and also people that aren't huge fucking nerds), I want to make a reminder that Data is the guy that tried doing the eSource site and failed colossally. Essentially, he announced the project way too early, asked for programmers to work on the project, and straight up quit when people wouldn't code his site for him.
This guy doesn't know how to code.
There is a respected community member (with a portfolio of successful sites) working on a site with similar functionality, and I seriously recommend waiting for him/her to announce his/her site.
DataThis basically means I am now all by myself with no coding skills... So unless we find a warm hearted person out there willing to co-own & code eSource for free... it's over.
The stream is live. Please feel free to provide some feedback, as this is my first time doing something like this.

Super nice guy that is good at listening to/ providing constructive criticism.
