Why wouldn't any top player from back in the day still be able to be a top player today? It's not like there have been very many significant meta changes over the years that would make today's game seem foreign to an old player. The only big ones would be the demo sticky nerf, double gunboats soldiers, and pocket scouts getting more heals, but the first two should already be familiar to most players depending on how old of a player you're talking about. Then I suppose the only question is whether old non-scout mains would be willing to give up their heals to a pocket scout, and I don't see a lot of players being such stubborn heal-hogs that they would refuse to adapt.

Jungle Inferno update: pyro update finally arrives, pyro gets some new toys: a single shot flamethrower, throwable gas can, jet pack, an unintentional bug with flames allows pyro to do max flame damage at all times, pyro's airblast is buffed and changed to a cone shape, crossbow building is done away with, ambassador headshots are significantly nerfed
Sweden Lan: Essentials.tf organize a lan in Sweden which Froyotech decides to attend (with 3 ringers), Lowpander was the only team to beat Froyo in a map (reckoner) but Froyo then proceeds to pound the fuck out of the competition and win the easiest lan of their lives, Habib gives a special shoutout to the love his life
Rewind II: Se7en return for revenge but kaptain gets food poisoning during playoffs and is replaced by Permzilla, a slightly different Ascent lan roster defeats 7 and the Euros take 3rd place, Froyo then dominates Ascent for another first place finish, b4nny's ego skyrockets to unfathomable levels
March 28 update/Blue Moon update: in-game competitive changes ranking system to that of CS:GO's, placement matches are added, casual games are now balanced by same rating system as competitive, flamethrower damage now starts out weaker but ramps up

Dude should do some research and see just how successful valve visits have been in the past. Hell it's been 3 whole years since this news dropped and look where we are now. And I hope the part about Half Life 3 is a joke.

So on top of hackers, we have lagbots and crashbots ruining the game. Great.

I don't know if their motive is petty revenge for an account getting banned or forcing valve's hand to deal with hackers and bots, but I really hope valve has been working on something to fix these problems by now. It's beyond ridiculous that such a popular game still doesn't have an adequate anti-cheat/ddos prevention system in place. Who knows how long this bullshit will last until something is finally done.
