I opened this hoping for a version of badlands that was balanced for highlander.

I've been stuck on 1024x768 for a few months because my monitor broke and I decided to cheap out by using an old spare I had in my attic instead of buying a new one.
It sucks, I miss my 90 degree fov.
The balance with the big explosives seems kinda strange and might cut into how fun the multiplayer is, but it's still nice to see that classic arena shooters are still being made
catchy beat, I can dig it
Literally every match at LAN last season was 2-0.
OP, do we need to rethink LAN because of that?
a pretty good soldier
awful at pyro but that's a different story for a different time
worth picking up if your team is looking
What's wrong with icons? You click on them and the thing you want shows up.
I am a simple man.
Every now and then when I'm browsing the site, something like this pops up in a new tab out of the blue:

I didn't click any further on that page for obvious reasons, but it is unnerving that malware popups like that show up here; it makes me want to turn Adblock back on.
bumping this
The 6s team I was on died because our scouts couldn't make it to practice and our medic didn't want to juggle leading both a 6s and HL team, so I'm looking for a team again.
I prefer roamer but I can also play pocket if needed.
Forgot to put this in the title but I'm also down to join a CEVO or IGL team if any are looking.
Previous teams:
Steel HL Season 8 - Starting Heavy for Critsandvich Highlander (3-5)
Steel HL Season 9 - Starting Engineer & Team Leader for The Master Rusemen (9-4, 3rd place Steel bracket B)
Steel HL Season 10 - Starting Spy for The Cattes (??? record)
Steel 6v6 - Roaming Soldier for Vault Force 4 (had some good scrims but broke up the day before our first league match RIP in peace)
Other Experience:
-a lot of inhouse PUGs + some on tf2mix
-some Newbie Mixes
-ringing for other 6s teams in scrims
Feel free to add me on Steam if you're interested: http://steamcommunity.com/id/isotope_239/
pine_beetleMain thing is valve doesn't support the competitive 6 v 6 community at all. Robin can nitpick what he doesn't like about the format and whatever... But if they made an esea open, im, and invite badges a lot more people would play just because of that. Or just post the date of a big lan to watch a lot more people would come watch.
iirc, the reason ESEA doesn't get medals is because Valve doesn't like the idea of giving exclusive items to pay-to-play leagues, not because of the format. UGC 6v6 got medals last season, and ETF2L 6s has had them for a while.
PAPASTAINThe problem with 6v6 isn't its format, it's that the most optimized classes and strategies are already there. When you leave a format alone for 5 or so years, that's bound to happen. If they want to sincerely shake things up in 6v6, give players reasons to not go 2scouts/2sollys/demo/medic. Make a utility class useful enough where people don't have to worry if any of the advantages that utility class has justifies severely fucking up dmg output. Classes like pyro are pretty useless normally, and the few situations they're justified, it's still questionable to have one over a scout. Change stuff like that.
As Bloodsire mentioned earlier in this thread, that was already attempted when the GRU was made for Heavy. Any other attempt to change the med/demo/2scout/2soldier metagame will instantly be banned in every league just like it was, unless the 6s community has a dramatic change in its mentality.
Whoopee_Cushion#57, to me, it's a huge jump from allowing stocks to be banned to people having no weapons for a slot. There would almost definitely need to be some way to avoid doing that. In my opinion stocks HAVE to be ban-able, otherwise we'll just end up with the same stagnance as 6s, which Robin wants to avoid.
Bannable stock weapons would end in some people being unable to play in the matchmaking because of what's in their backpacks. And by the way, TF2's config options aren't able to ban stock items without external plugins. Ready Steady Pan had to use either a third-party server extension or have players just use the honor system not to use their primary weapons.
Setting a (fairly low) limit on how many weapons can be banned in each lobby is a much simpler way to both avoid stagnancy and prevent a lot more headaches being added to creating the lobby system.
Also, Valve will never ban stock items because they want to make sure that every player will be able to participate in the matchmaking--remember, the system they're making is made to cater to the F2P with 20 hours in the game as much as it is for anyone else.
If your team's medic only owns the stock medigun and the medigun was banned, then your whole team is screwed. That scenario would never be allowed to happen if Valve has any common sense in them.
Pretty Boy's Pocket Pistol
-Allows a scout to be buffed to 225 health with overheal, which is much harder to kill than a scout with the standard 185 overheal (3 direct rockets or full ramp-up scattergun hits at 225 vs 2 at 185)
-No fall damage allows scouts to bomb in after camping in high-up perches without being injured
-Very little effective downside vs the default pistol, as the lower dps is negligible and scouts can easily dodge flamethrowers
