#8 problem with crosshair 1 in Customization

couldn't you just put cl_crosshair_scale to each class ? (e.g. scout.cfg demoman.cfg)

if it's for each loadout
alias class_primary "cl_crosshair_scale "
alias class_secondary "cl_crosshair_scale "
alias class_melee "cl_crosshair_scale "

change "class" with the class you want and put it in the respective cfg.

+ put "cl_crosshair_file crosshair1" in your autoexec and avoid using multiplayer settings.

Still confused why he didn't get back to TLR's roster, I thought they needed a sub for i55 only ?
I'm not sure what happened excatly but how and why is he playing as a scout ?

#1838 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization

So I recently got into editing huds, I wanted to make one 4:3 compatible, clean and tf2-themed, I got a few questions:
(Based off broeselhud)
1// What file controls the medic TargetID ? I would like to move it higher to the crosshair.

http://puu.sh/k8Gg6/b035228c47.jpg

2// I edited scoreboard to be transparent and I clipped it to Score only, but I would like to change it's font.

http://puu.sh/k8GjL/345d17aa00.jpg

3//Idk if it's possible but is there a way to make the kill feed's weapons always white ? (regardless of which team killed which)

http://puu.sh/k8HKb/b1cc7accdb.jpg

4// How do I remove the white lines on the shaded bars ? it's kind of disturbing to me (especially since I'm using 640 x 480)

Thanks alot.

#16 Ping increases when someone uses wireless in Q/A Help

wow, I've just noticed these protocols, one has ping in it. http://puu.sh/jSatZ/93cd21a7fd.png
Does that help ?

EDIT: I've just played with the advanced filtering settings, gave LAN ethernet a high priority while lowering Wireless Rules in both input and output, when I played tf2 I had like one or two spikes but ping was average of 90-100 ms at the time, which is great.

Are there any more stuff I could edit ?

#14 Ping increases when someone uses wireless in Q/A Help
iridescentFUZZYour QoS implementation looks really weird compared to the how it's done in DD-WRT and Tomato, so I'm not sure if I can really give you any advice.

I can tell you though, that you'll need to tweak how much of a cap you put on your outbound bandwidth as that has pretty much the biggest influence on how much data gets sent back to you. Set an upload limit that's about 80% of the highest upload speed you get and then see if other people using Youtube or other things significantly affects your ping. If needed, change the limit ti 70%

I'll consider that after I try Setsul's method, one question though, could I (in the future) get a new router (D-Link, for example) that is not licensed by my ISP ? I doubt that's the best word to describe it but my router here has the "Maroc Telecom" logo, so can I use any router and still everything would work ?

#7 Ping increases when someone uses wireless in Q/A Help

@Comanglia

I use phone line (ADSL) and Ethernet Cable plugged in router and the case.

My network card is Marvell Yukon 88E056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
This is how my router is set up, I only use the phone with the wire in the phone line. (sorry I only have this in french)

http://www.iam.ma/Particuliers/PublishingImages/maroc-telecom_routeur-Sagem-F@st-3304_Comment-brancher-mon-routeur_1.png

@Setsul
My downstream is 8mpbs, before the line cut I was getting 6.90-7.30 mbps, now after that I only get 6.50-6.90 mbps, even with wifi deactivated and me opening nothing.

I just did 3 speedtests, the server is from Chiclana, Spain.
•With wifi deactivated and youtube not opened :
60-80 ms, 6.80-6.90 mbps
•With wifi deactivated and youtube loading video :
100 - 140 ms, 4.50-5 mbps
•With Wifi activated and a pc using wireless connection loading youtube :
+150 ms, 3-4 mbps

That's interesting, and scary at the same time.

@Shun My router has a weird away of implementing QoS, I have sagem f@st3304-v2, and I only see the QoS options on the firewall's advanced filtering options. 1 l 2

Isn't there anyway I can prioritize my bandwidth over others ? before I had no problem when other people was using wireless connection, after the phone cut I never was able to get 7 mbps, maybe a new router would help ?

#1 Ping increases when someone uses wireless in Q/A Help

Title says all, I've always had ping on a range of 70-100 in EU servers (I live in Morocco, northwest Africa) regardless of weither someone is using wi-fi while I'm playing, I use ethernet cable.

2 weeks ago, we suddenly lost connection, someone had unplugged the phone lines, eitherway we didn't figure it out until 3 days later when we called ISP and they sent us someone who got the strings back, but right on the same day I've loaded tf2, my ping drastically increases whenever someone else uses wi-fi ( which never happened, at worst cases I'd get 100-110 ping for a few seconds which is playable for me) but now I get 400 and constant (especially when someone opens youtube)

Contacted ISP twice, they pretty much said "play with the settings until you figure it out k bye", I got no clue on what to do now.

What I tried :
-Changing channel
-Changing DNS server

My only temporary fix is when I turn off wifi, my ping returns completely fine with no spikes whatsoever (maybe that shows that the problem is on my part ?), but that's not an option for me all the time.

#35 FPS Improvement Compilation in Customization
MedusaHatimHow come 16:9 resolutions eat more FPS than 16:10 then ? considering the width times height is way more ?Look at the actual numbers you posted...

1920 x 1080 > 1680 x 1050

1680 px x 1050 px (16:10 ratio) > 1280 px x 720 px (16:9 ratio)

2073600 pixels > 1764000 pixels **difference of 309600 pixels**
1680 x 1050 = 226.65 fps
1280 x 720 = 223.18 fps **Difference of approx. 3 fps**

1920 px x 1080 px (16:9 ratio) > 1280 px x 720 px (16:9 ratio)

2073600 pixels > 921600 pixels **difference of 1152000 pixels**
1280 x 720 = 223.18 fps
1920 x 1080 = 222.84 fps **Difference of approx. 1 fps**

Conclusion my snarky friend ? :)
