#99 Danpixed's MaxFPS compilation in Customization

Oh man I just noticed this thread, I should go to tf.tv more often.
Really great work Danpixed, some features look really nice, also thank you for including my guide! I'll make sure to include it in guide. :)
Few things I want to point out:

- You don't need to bind "sv_allow_point_servercommand always" and reload map, put the command in autoexec and it'll load fine first time.
- Heapsize is useless after the orange box, the -high command shoould let tf2 use more system memory instead.

other than that your compilation looks really promising, also the timer resolution is a nice tool, keep at it !

pazerHatimAspect Ratio:
Resolutions don't affect FPS that much but the field of view is what eats up FPS, so for good combinations of FPS and FOV (1280 x 600) would be the most ideal option, but if you're PC is a toaster using 4:3 (640 x 480) would help greatly.

???

Aspect ratio has very little to do with FPS. The number of pixels (width times height) your GPU has to render is what uses up frametime (assuming you're not cpu limited)

Source: sv_cheats 1, play with r_aspectratio (0 is automatic)

How come 16:9 resolutions eat more FPS than 16:10 then ? considering the width times height is way more ?

ComangliaBenchmarks for Aspect Ratios

4:3
1280 x 1024
2639 frames 11.506 seconds 229.35 fps ( 4.36 ms/f) 11.492 fps variability
640 x 480
2639 frames 11.525 seconds 228.98 fps ( 4.37 ms/f) 11.855 fps variability

16:10
1680 x 1050
2639 frames 11.643 seconds 226.65 fps ( 4.41 ms/f) 11.369 fps variability

16:9
1920 x 1080
2639 frames 11.843 seconds 222.84 fps ( 4.49 ms/f) 11.428 fps variability
1280 x 720
2639 frames 11.825 seconds 223.18 fps ( 4.48 ms/f) 12.324 fps variability

ChangeHatimspammyHatimspammy situations???

The guide itself is really useful for newcomers and people who don't know how to optimize your game. Very well done!
spammy situations: situations where alot of ppl are attacking and shooting at the same time in the same place, which is usually in mid fights, when players start attacking, alot of particles get rendered, which eats fps.

He knows what you meant... his name is Spammy. It was supposed to be funny I think.

just noticed this lmao, I must've been blind, my bad.

R4ndomI did the unpark CPU thing. Desktop usage feels somewhat more responsive? Is it placebo? Everything feels so smooth now.

it should be, just make sure your case/laptop doesn't get dusty and the fans are ok because unparking cpu means more overheat from cores.

#5 Advanced HUD Editing Help in Q/A Help
STOGEhttp://www.teamfortress.tv/thread/19073/hud-editing-short-questions-quick-answers Would be a better place to ask.

You may also want to check out Rays HUD tutorials https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPH6On2F0Pw&list=PL5eNrB8RrXXvohogCcKNKyk9SJxa26ltz They are the reason I know how to do anything with HUDs

Alternatively I could also maybe just download your HUD and try implement the changes, but it's better to learn yourself imo.

I'll be checking the Rays HUD tutorial, it could help me change my colors, but I don't know about scoreboard.

Knuckles_http://hudcreator.co.uk

incase you're having issues finding anyone, this could work for the really basic stuff.

I've had that site in mind but I only want to tweak basthud, also the tweaks are kind of advanced so yeah.

#1 Advanced HUD Editing Help in Q/A Help

I've always liked b4stian's basthud, and whenever I change HUD for a couple of weeks I have to get back to it, but there are some small things that I would like to tweak (such as overhealed healthbar and low health/ammo look)
I've been having some neat ideas on how I want some stuff to look and I've already made it design-wise, but when it comes to scripts I'm completely clueless.

I was hoping if a kind gentleman would like to help me edit my hud, I have the design in mind, I just need to script it down.
Add me on steam if anyone's up for it.
Thank you.

STOGEDo you know whether or not changing the explosion particles could help with performance? Perhaps making it use a very easy-to-render particle?

http://www.teamfortress.tv/thread/25647/no-explosion-smoke-script/?page=1#436921 what I'm talking about if you have no idea.

technically this no-explosion-smoke is similar to surfaceproperties that removes smoke from bullet holes, I wouldn't say this script raises fps but rather it should help keeping your FPS constant in spammy situations, so yeah it should help your performance.

removed what i wrote next cause i got misleaded by the vid one of those put, as I said it helps FPS be constant so you're good to go.
