#47 What would you choose? in Off Topic

Kitchen-6 (so that I can keep on the carnivore diet)
Movies and TV shows-4 (probably the first thing I would drop if necessary)
Computer-6 (to watch the movies and play games)
Games-4 (no internet, but plenty of good offline games to fill the time)
Gym-5 (pass the time, feel better, sleep better, etc.)
Library and Study-4 (not only will I have plenty of reading to do, but a study would have letter-writing materials, so the need for internet or a phone is greatly lessened. I prefer letters anyhow)
Gun-1 (I had one point left and deemed self-defense a worthwhile investment)

#3 Torn Productions in Off Topic

Torn Productions made some frag movies for TF2/QL years back. I believe Justin was the lead guy on it; I know he made the 'zis is rapha' movie. They also made the official QL Steam launch trailer. Been inactive for some time.

No idea why it was done.

#26 Fitness goals in Off Topic

Get down to 220-230 solid pounds. 45 down, another 72-82 to go.

Slight reduction in carb intake + running stairs at least five times per week. Plan to add weight lifting down the line.

#12 What's your favourite Insomnia Lan? in TF2 General Discussion

I have a fondness for i46. It was the first comp TF2 I ever watched; the production was filled with issues, but there was such excitement in it. I'm sure part of it is down to the fact that it was a mostly vanilla tourney; call it nostalgia, but it ages well in my mind.

All things considered, we've been pretty blessed with tight LANs at Insomnia.

#1 High ping when streaming in Q/A Help

Hello.

I've streamed TF2 off and on for almost two years. Lately I've had an issue with my pings being much higher than they should be when I stream. I use OBS Studio (always have), stream at 2500 bitrate, 30fps, and have fiber internet. When this has happened the issue has disappeared once I stopped streaming. I can't think of any changes I've made that might have caused this. Any stream wizards out there who can help?

Best regards.

#76 what are ya READING? in Music, Movies, TV

Knowledge and Decisions by Thomas Sowell
Emma by Jane Austen
The Second World War: Volume 3 by Sir Winston Churchill (I've been plodding through this one off and on for several years)

Not sure what'll be next. Probably a book on law or mathematics.

#43 Remove sentries in TF2 General Discussion
wonderland
the opposite happens actually, its harder to push out cuz you only have 1 scout.

I meant that a team which pushes out unsuccessfully has the option of falling back on this tactic (assuming a scout lives), not that it would leave an engineer on last and deprive itself of forward force when advancing.

#28 Remove sentries in TF2 General Discussion

Might removing sentries have the effect of teams being more reluctant to push out of last? The ability to have a scout swap to engineer and throw up a gun acts as insurance against a failed push out. Of course, this isn't something one thinks about when pushing out, but as teams get punished for pushing out a bit more, it seems to me that over time they will be slightly more reluctant to make the attempt. Might this not also have the effect of prolonging last stalemates?

I don't claim any expert knowledge; this is merely a hypothesis for you more experienced fellows to examine, then affirm or refute.

#123 What would a team of 6 yous be like? in TF2 General Discussion
SpaceCadet6 of me, a combined team age of 240, switch the number around to make 420
Find me another team that can do that with a combined age

One would only need to find someone in the community who is 34, since six times 34 is 204, thus allowing us to rearrange the digits to 420. Unless you meant an actual team; in that case, I've no idea.
