AdnurakDatDrummerGuyWhy can't b4nny and other people get Valve to think more, communicate more, implement good changes, etc?Nobody has the balls to go to valve HQ and tell them to their faces that their game is dying and it's their fault. Which I can't say I blame them for, those would have to be some pretty big balls.

They're well aware of it, they just don't care. They do read the forums and keep updated with streamers/high ranking posters. It's just that they don't have the ambition to take it into account. They probably don't want to isolate the comp or pub crowd out of updates. In an effort to please everyone, they've ironically let everyone down. Even pub-only players are unsatisfied with matchmaking, and because of their busted contract system they're angry with valve over halloween too. Valve's losing player support by the second, all we can do is see how many weeks it takes for them to change, or for them to lose..

It blows my mind that people still fight in valve's defense even after the braindead decisions they make. They aren't learning. They never will. No matter how good your visit to their office is, we'll only ever see a fraction of that progress released, likely incomplete or broken. I know they've got their hardships, dragging along a decade old game with spaghetti code and fluxuating dev numbers, but if you're making decisions like destroying the map pool for the sake of "experimenting", all while you refuse to acknowledge years of community format testing and refusing to reopen the beta branch, you aren't a good developer making the best of what you've got. You're an idiot.

It's been said before, i'll say it again. I love Valve's franchises. I despise Valve.

#7 warhuryeah's rant pt 2 in TF2 General Discussion
saamPutting in old game modes isn't the problem, pubbers fucking love the Halloween updates (at least I did and so did my pubber friends)

The problem is they said they were working on comp mode improvements and the pyro update and instead we got a shittier map pool, taunts, and no balance changes. Every month with a lack of a real update is just more proof to me that valve are morons at this point

if you expected the halloween update to include mm and pyro changes you were setting the bar too high. It's irritating valve has taken so long to update mm but halloween has virtually never been a balance update so to expect anything beyond pubber hijinks here is setting yourself up for dissapointment

(that said, the fact they felt the need to tamper with the map pool is fucking ludicrous)

Tom3 while there were very few changes from the beta to the main release (if any). You would want valve to continually iterate on mm, so the idea that changes would stop after release is not a good one. The CS mm was far worse than what it is now.

Im not saying that valve are perfect, im just defending some of their decisions which given the amount of hate towards valve atm i will prob get down fragged.

It's really not hard to see they're doing beta-level changes to mm rather than release-level adjustments. That's what bugs me. Really basic unspecific feedback after every match, check. Questionable map changes on the grounds of testing the waters, check. No indication of any large scale rebalancing, check. They had two years to test these things. Why are they only starting now? Why do they refuse to reopen the beta branch? I don't expect mm to be perfect and only need slight tweaks, but it's abhorrently obvious they dragged their feet creating matchmaking, rushed the release because people were mad, and now they're damage controlling it by doing changes that should only impact a beta, but those experiments are turning real players away from enjoying matchmaking. The reason you make beta branches is so people can still enjoy the released product as it is. Now everyone has to deal with valve as they attempt to comprehend what the definition of balanced is.

AdnurakThis is garbage, this update could have been shat out by two people over a week period, obviously discounting the work that went into the community created stuff which valve can't be credited for even slightly.
As for these maps I'm honestly shocked. I'd rather play on fucking mario_kart than ctf_turbine.

they didn't even make a new taunt for halloween they literally just reused all the assets for bumper cars and packaged it as a taunt

I legitimately want to hear their mindset on this one. Valve has had their fair share of questionable decisions but in what world do they think these maps need to be tested in a 6s format above the commonly accepted cp/koth maps? Why are they treating finalized matchmaking as if it's still in beta? why even release it when you're clearly not content with the format yet? It's not like they did any testing during beta besides stress tests...

#97 first time u played tf2 in TF2 General Discussion

I was in a runescape private server clan in ~2012 where they constantly talked about buying and trading hats in some steam game. I said they were idiots for treating items like they had real value. so I downloaded the game and joined a saxton hale server. I played nothing but saxton hale and deathrun for 2 months because I didn't realize that wasnt the main focus of the game.

I remember getting really mad and yelling at the spies who would somehow still live even after i saw them die. Then i learned about the deadringer.

#207 The State of TF2, Post-Valve Meetings in TF2 General Discussion
NakadaIf our goal is to get multiple LAN tournaments within the community, not just a valve sponsored one, then realistically we should only be experimenting with class limits of 5 or 6 right? One problem with 9s was that it's too expensive to fly that many people out and computer costs and blah blah blah. So if that's still a realistic problem with 7s or 8s then we can just ignore those unless we can't find something we can all agree with in 5s or 6s right?

After this many years of seasons, tournaments and weapon testing the issue isn't that we haven't found the right format. It's that the game isn't being properly adjusted to support 6s. 3 months later and we've yet to see any balance changes, we probably won't see the pyro update until christmas at bare minimum, we've seen no sign of them implementing placement matches or getting off of this dumb system where "team rank total adds up = fair match!!", And I certainly won't hold my breath for a beta branch or any notable changes in the coming months. I'd love, absolutely love to be proven wrong. But we've seen every side of this dice a thousand times and no matter how much you roll it, Valve's going to try and do it their way which is equatable to dragging your feet while you run a marathon.

And if Valve is convinced 6s (or just its associated meta) isn't the best for the game, they're going to be hard pressed to find another format that works without them actively adjusting and rebalancing the game. Which of course, I wouldn't hold your breath for either.

#186 TF2 Feature Requests and Bug Fixes in TF2 General Discussion

I don't like how valve is restricting game modding because they want the game to appear as vanilla as possible for streams/recordings, but aren't taking efforts to improve the games aesthetics. Many viewmodel animations are (in my opinion) unpleasant and formerly had awful hand clipping at higher fovs (their solution was enabling minimized viewmodels and later slightly adjusting models to look better at higher fov). It would have been nicer to have an animation overhaul for some of the more prominent issues (eg demomans arms). Same with things like lighting issues, restricting phong/lightmap settings, so on. If you're going to keep the game vanilla so every appearance of footage reflects the real product, why not actively keep the product looking as nice as possible? The game came out 9 years ago, and started development even longer than that, I don't see why remaking some animations/textures/lightings would be considered a waste of resources when this day and age graphics DO impact peoples enjoyment of games (obviously gameplay and performance take priority, but after that, the game does need to look visually appealing)
