GgglygyCanucks made pretty good offseason moves (Dickinson, Phil Di Giuseppe). If Demko steals some games they can be really good.

Demko is going to be the key this season. He's already been phenomenal early. Nucks should have lost the Kraken home opener but he stole the game.

But it finally hit a point where the lack of enjoyment was outweighing the enjoyment of the people around me. I've come back a few times solely for the people despite me not really enjoying playing.

Not just directed at you, more to everyone in the community you just happen to be the one talking about it... But I really have to ask (and maybe I am just too much of a boomer) but why is this sandbagging shit such a sticking point for RGL? I don't play anymore, but are sandbaggers or "OP" ringers actually a problem? I haven't truly played since ESEA died, but in comparison ESEA had way less issue with people sandbagging than RGL does, seemingly because ESEA said "fuck it figure it out yourselves" instead of trying to regulate it. I cant help but think that trying to regulate these things really only produces negative outcomes. One, people get super frustrated when they see players that they think should be banned from X or Y class and are not, and two it adds so much extra work for the admin team to try and juggle a whole bunch of super subjective ideas on who is good at what class. Its also not like a whole bunch of players even try to sandbag anyways, most players that plan the game want to play at the level they are capable of rather than down 2 divisions.
On one hand, I don't remember it being THAT bad in ESEA

Also I definitely played against a team that rang Stark at one point.

I cant agree with takes like this. Even if it slowly died, that's still money being made that goes towards a good cause.
For TF2 fans, would it suck seeing it move away from the game? Yeah, it probably would, but does it suck more for Camp One Step having something that supports the work they do die outright instead? Absolutely. Way worse. Sure, even if the returns were diminishing, it's still returns.
And I get that there's the argument of "Well if it would have diminishing returns, they should stick to TF2 because it works!". But with the followings some of the people have built across other titles, who's to even say it WOULD have had diminishing returns? Maybe some years would be rockier than others, but based on the people involved I would be genuinely stunned if it didnt keep growing. Additionally, it's incredibly difficult to feign passion where it no longer exists. Believe me, I tried casting overwatch during goats LMAO. I think they realize the passion isn't there and that forcing TF2 segments where the talent isn't interested for the sake of the audience wouldn't hit right. Maybe I'm wrong though.
Regardless, hopefully they make a spiritual successor to TotH and hopefully it manages to thrive. The people involved are all brilliant, and the cause has always been fantastic. It would be an absolute shame to not have something from them after this.

his DM is mid advanced, his personality is invite caliber. Literally one of the best people I've ever had the pleasure of sharing a mumble with, if not the best. The fact that he's able to actually play consecutive seasons is terrifying for every team he isn't on. He's about to ascend. Has some warts in his game, but over the course of the season those should work themselves out, especially with a dedicated team that will work with him.

Okay true but harbleu played games in Open S6 before jumping to Invite. There are also likely others from the earliest days of ESEA but Jojo said those existed before record-keeping so we don't know if those seasons happened.
If Harbleu playing open in S6 as well as invite disqualifies him, then I think Ggglygy going from open in S6 to winning invite with eMg in S7 would be the next person to do it then.
Empy is super dedicated, wants to get better, has solid mechanics and is a good person. Should thrive in a dedicated high IM team, or even a main team if they're willing to have some patience.
