#1 ETF2L admin credibility 2 in TF2 General Discussion

A decision made by the ETF2L Staff on the first round of div 1 playoffs has sparked some controversy. This match http://etf2l.org/matches/76345/ during the map of gullywash, team D&D broke a class limit rule, and successfully defended an uber dis-ad last hold after wiping on mid. They were punished with a single minor warning.

You can see for yourself here: https://clips.twitch.tv/OptimisticShakingRavenStinkyCheese (courtesy of BigBoyCasts).

There are two crucial points I would like to bring up. Firstly, ETF2L Staff handle rulebreaks on a case by case basis. Sometimes a rule break has no effect on the game, and so a minor warning is acceptable. Other times, the same rule break can massively change the tempo of a game, and the result of the match as a whole should be brought into question. Secondly, the outcome of this match could effect whether or not the teams get into the premiership division by winning div 1. Prem is held to a higher standard than other divs due to the broadcasting, and wanting to maintain top level competition.

For the first point, this was clearly an impactful rulebreak. The defending team is two men down after the offensive team get two frags with their uber. The push is then COMPLETELY halted by a player going pyro whilst the previous pyro was in the respawn queue. The rule is that a dead teammate counts as a player on the field. Meaning you can't kill, for example a medic, and then have another teammate swap to medic, and your medic comes up another class to preserve uber advantage. I emphasise the COMPLETELY halted part, because it was. The attacking team would have successfully pushed the last point with ease if the pyro was not there, making the map a 2-2 scoreline with 10 minutes left. That is an example of completely changing the tempo of a match using a rule break. If the attacking team had won the round anyway, that is an example of a little to no effect rule break. In the little to no effect scenario, that is where a minor warning would suffice. This is an unfair ruling given by the staff since the scoreline could very well be different. The two solutions are simple. Either replay 10 minutes, or the entire map of gullywash, and if Chimpanz Instinct take the map, then the decider map is played.

For the second point, this match could decide which team plays in the prem div in ETF2L. Why is this rulebreak being treated so mildly? It should be held to the same standards a prem official is held to.

Share your thoughts. I think the map should be replayed in its entirety, perhaps others have other interesting propositions on how to handle future cases.

#1 Asking for a friend... in The Dumpster

If you die to say, E-thot / Furry Extermination Expert in a pub, are you an e-thot / furry?

Same goes for Ghostkiller8971. Am I a ghost now? Is my friend a ghost now?

#3 Fat people in The Dumpster

Half true, half not true. Everyone should be able to enjoy life. But at the same time people should take care of themselves.

#10 Granary in Map Discussion

Granary is fine as a map. It's different to all other maps in the pool for a few reasons:

Soldier is the strongest class.
7 cp playstyle
Tight chokes make it play differently, easy to learn holds/stalemates.
Easy to push out of last if you win a fight on last as defenders, as well as easy to push to last if you win a fight on second.
Lots more flank potential than other maps.
Mid and last plays like an arena fight testing team coordination over strats.
Plenty of offclasses easily viable.
Very basic strategies like ubertrading very viable.

It is such a unique map, I never get why the people who complain about it are the same people who want a new, fresh map. Look at process and sunshine, nearly identical maps. Look at metalworks, the "worst" parts of granary are so much more apparent there, but people still prefer it for some reason.

The problem with granary is that people don't know how to play it, not that it's a bad map (same with product and badlands). Granary and badlands are the two maps that people knew how to play better 3-5 years ago than they do now. If you want to learn how to play it, watch demos from years ago, not recent ones. Sometimes TF2 requires patience, something that todays players lack. Which I don't really get, since it's a part of the game. Don't know why people play the game if they dont have patience

#65 belle delphine selling bathwater in Off Topic
morwanneghoolii want to see someone explain belle delphine to their grandparents"Person generates free attention, ad revenue, and popularity by employing controversial marketing gimmick. People who are outraged by this continue giving her attention, so at the end of the day she still wins."
The point isn't really her trying to make a profit off selling her bath water to desperate nerds. It's her making a profit off free advertisement generated by people who are outraged at how shameless she is. I know I certainly would've never heard of this girl if not for the bath water gimmick, so it must be working.

I'm so sick of this argument. It's not efficient advertisement. You hearing about this girl means nothing. Me hearing about this girl means nothing. All other lonely nerds hearing about her means nothing. It's such a niche market that it doesn't actually expand by having more advertisement, it's only negative since more people disagree with it, and some of those lonely nerds will end up being impacted by the masses disagreeing with it ethically. Therefore looking for some other E-girl to satisfy theirselves.

The saying "all publicity is good publicity" is a joke. It's not in todays day and age since there is always someone to replace anyone who has bad publicity. 10-20 years ago when there were not people to replace those with bad publicity, it was true, now it's not true.

Advertisers pay attention to whether or not number of views actually equals sales. Ad revenue/views means much less than people think for a site like instagram, since any random can click a link and have it mean nothing. Which is why specific posts mentioning a sponsor are so much more impactful. If you can't make a sponsored messages work, you are worthless to most investors nowadays.

#1 What do you choose? in Off Topic

You can only wear one piece of clothing. What do you choose? Can wear other gender clothes, any piece is allowed.

A onesie would make the most sense, but if that's not allowed, what do you choose?

Personally, I'm having a hard time deciding between shoes and overalls. Do I let my cock flap in the wind or let my feet get impaled by cigarette butts, gum and pebbles?

#11 i need drama in The Dumpster

@murkcreibe that is fucking hilarious and exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the only drama I have is my 60 year old Italian boss slapping my ass (i'm 23 years Australian living in England) and saying "if only I was 30 years younger" to regular customers. I don't mind. but since it is a complment, but I also don't plan on reporting it since it can ruin her livelihood and she doesn't do it often enough to actually annoy me (shes done it once out of like 30 weeks, so is aite idc).

If you DO care about that sort of thing, or think an emplyoyee is suffering because of it, please rep[ort it. I'm the kinda guy who doesn;t care these sorts of interactions occasionaly,. but if you are, please do let it be knoiwn.

Respect @mmukrscriboec, interesting interadtions ty ty
