#262 December Global Whitelist Changes in TF2 General Discussion
YeeHawMaybe if valve would communicate what weapons they were looking to balance, cooperation would be easier.

Agreed, they did use to do this for a time too so it wouldn't be unprecedented.

Robin Walker - August 17th, 2010Unfortunately for Jason, my slow process of answering interviews seems to have worked in my favor here, because since he wrote the question tournaments have been opening up their item adoptions a bit, with bans mostly focusing on Natascha, The Wrangler, and The Sandman. It'd be nice if we could get people using the Wrangler a bit more so we can get useful competitive feedback on it, but overall we're pretty happy with this level of adoption.

Although it took 3 years for Wrangler to get nerfed after that and it wasn't even a nerf geared around 6s at all because they didn't really get what they wanted feedback wise in that case.

Nowadays I assume if Valve outright said "hey we want feedback on X from tournaments" if worse came to worse the people who run the global whitelist would just straight up allow it though.

It wouldn't be very hard to apply to any other Payload mode map.

Added you on Steam to discuss!

#58 pl_tapline in Map Discussion

Hey, how easy would it be to port the push mechanics to any other Payload map? I'm assuming very easy since Payload entities & logic don't really differ much between payload maps other than Frontier, is that correct?

Basically would making experimental versions of Badwater & Upward with this mechanic be easy?

michael-i know there's a bit more aim involvedmichael-it lowers the skill ceiling in tht regard.

im pretty sure the dragons fury takes way more aim than this and doesnt lower the skill ceiling in comparison, and yes this is optimal if you're able to hit more than one person with it since it automatically does full damage to everyone you hit with a particle

unless you think this takes more skill/aim than the dragons fury...?

e: dragons fury is only limited to killing 1 dude at a time basically, flamethrowers can just cleave everything, which isn't really that hard especially at most of the 5cp lasts and how people hold tbh

at least when i die to the DF i know someone had to actually click on me, not just spray their whole screen

of course the problem is you'd have to convince people to use the dragons fury when it really isn't actually good, a very tiny range increase and a tiny DPS increase on single target isn't as good as cleaving people, WAY EASIER max dps, and the tiny single target DPS decrease can be overcome on single target by Degreaser + Panic Attack shuffling which makes you not drop any fire damage while adding shotgun damage into the mix.

just imagine you have uber advantage at last and you just uber a pyro doing this with degreaser into badlands last or something, like the only real counter option is to also run a pyro and airblast spam and hope you don't get focus fired by the other people on the offense's team

oyeaban GRU (arrows exist)

How do arrows equate into the gru at all, you arrive at mid with 100-130 hp on like every comp map if you run it full time after freeze time (add ~20-40 HP if you don')t and then have to wait ~17-20 seconds to get your full hp back all while having shittier overheals the whole time.

-protobecause the dragons fury is fucking retarded

l don't know about you but I'd rather play against something that takes some semblance of aim than the current Flamethrowers where you can do full damage to multiple people while having a seizure with your mouse and have to deal with particles that get stuck to floors/walls and can burst you out of nowhere.

#41 RIP Net Neutrality in World Events

https://twitter.com/henshaw/status/941133127283564544

Here's what @comcast removed from their Net Neutrality page. They no longer promise to:

-Not throttle back the speed at which content comes to you
-Not prioritize Internet traffic or create paid fast lanes
-Make internet accessible to low income families

it's almost like there actually isn't a real free competitive market for isps or something

#29 Save our Net Neutrality in World Events

fyi their guidelines were posted earlier when they knew everyone would be too busy eating to notice right away and the media cycle would miss it:

https://apps.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-347927A1.pdf

the best parts are the following 2:

"We eliminate the formal complaint procedures because the informal complaint procedure, in conjunction with other redress options including consumer protection laws, will sufficiently protect consumers."

"We also eliminate the issuance of enforcement advisory opinions, because enforcement advisory opinions do not diminish regulatory uncertainty, particularly for small providers."

They're expecting ISPs to be transparent while dismantling the main ways of punishing ISPs for not being transparent is basically where most of the silly stuff in this is...

There's plenty of silly stuff in this too, so much so that it's pretty unlikely this would hold up in the courts. The FCC has to prove that this massive shift is necessary and that the internet has changed enough over the past 2 years to warrant all of this and there isn't really a way they can pull that off.

(esp. when they have side issues like them not cooperating with the NY AG's investigation into the (presumed fake/botnet) anti-Net Neutrality comments looming over their heads and casting doubt)

#15 TF2 Monopoly in TF2 General Discussion

i wonder how surreal this would be to someone like Arnold who worked on Gullywash since 2007 shortly after the game launched, finally had it added to the game after 4 years, and now the name of it is on a freaking Team Fortress 2 monopoly game, heh.

#11 Pyro in 6vs6 game POV in Videos
cookieSatan did this years ago on "satan take the wheel"

hooey did it on Immortal Six way back during 2011's Season 9, it was the first time I personally saw someone go Pyro outside of last and not for a gimmick like the Backburner through shithouse strat on Badlands.

but hooey nutted so hard on a yukon scrim as pyro that the other team left mid scrim and refused to scrim them ever again lol

but it was actually their strat for that map, hooey went like 21-10 in their match.

a lot easier to do it now with parkinsons flamethrower and much better damage though.

#6 rest in peace miggy in Off Topic

Miggy was a really cool guy, I talked with him quite a bit, he used his plugin to help temporarily patch a massive Spy exploit that was otherwise undetectable that Valve accidentally let into the game while leagues had to wait for them to fix it, and he was very good at anti-cheat and helped catch several people for leagues/PUG sites.

RIP man. :s

#66 Pyro does way too much damage now in TF2 General Discussion
xanai think people cant deal with the fact that pyro can do something now

pyro can do his full primary damage output (which is enough to kill/put into scout clean up range most of the classes or force a Medic instantly) with 0 aim required and in fact is rewarded for doing so with full damage cleaves on any number of people in his 360 degree radius for almost no ammo. it isn't even hard to close distance with a conch and/or det jump with buff/uber to pull this off fairly reliable and just decimate a group.

i'm excited to hear your thoughts about how it's great that a pyro being played by a 2000 hour pyro main and a guy literally having a stroke and aneurysm at the same time while using 500 mouse sensitivity and moving his mouse with his face have no real difference in their ability to use Pyro's primary weapon's damage output.

no one minds if pyro can do something, they (including like most of the pyro mains I know) mind that there's a non-existent skill index to it and it's just dumb that the optimal strategy when you're against multiple enemies is to move your mouse around like you're having a seizure and doing full damage to all of them regardless.
