#1 Casting Binds in Q/A Help

Hey! I am looking to getting into casting/production, and one of the hardest obstacles right now is trying to switch to the person I want to see without cycling through everyone else on the server. It looks unprofessional and means I could miss a play from the right POV. I would like to know how cameramen are able to quickly switch to a certain POV with the push of a button. I have tried to use the spec_player command, but it doesn't work in STV demos (haven't tried it on a server live).

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

#4 4v4 Tournament Hosted by Rai eSports and servemetf in TF2 General Discussion

The owner is a friend (I'm just posting the information), and I am unable to play on wednesdays, so 6s is out of the questions unfortunately even though it is my favorite gamemode. If this goes well, we are looking to host a 6s tournament in the future so stay tuned for that.

Thank you for the kind words.

#1 4v4 Tournament Hosted by Rai eSports and servemetf in TF2 General Discussion

In celebration of our new 4v4 team, Rai eSports has decided to partner with serveme.tf to host a 4v4 tournament with key prizes based on the amount of teams that enter. Servers and the prize pool are graciously provided from Arie, the owner of serveme.tf and na.serveme.tf.

Details are on our website linked below:

http://www.raiesports.com/4s-tournament/

The rules list is here: http://www.raiesports.com/rules/

The map list is as follows:

koth_airfield_b7
cp_warmfrost_rc1
koth_ashville_rc1
cp_alamo
koth_badlands
koth_product_rc8
koth_stallone_b2
koth_artefact_v1

EDIT: We will be removing koth_artefact and cp_alamo from the pool because not only did we find them unfun to play on, other people don't like them. They will not be replaced, instead the map pool will be a bit smaller.

Thank you and good luck!

#31 Give me casting feedback in TF2 General Discussion

I think it's great that we have people passionate enough about the game that they are wiling to sacrifice their time and energy and put themselves out there to cast these matches. If you think that they could do better, that's fine, but simply declaring someone inept at casting because of a few mistakes is ridiculous, especially considering it isn't easy to talk for 50 minutes plus with hundreds/thousands (I wish) watching. The type of person (generally) that plays video games at any sort of high level is not really an out-going loud person, so to find people that first of all play said game, and enjoy it so much that they want to talk about it, AND have a nice voice and the enthusiasm to talk for that long, is very difficult.

The TF2 competitive scene is not all that large, so I see no reason why people are so upset when Getawhale casts, I personally enjoy his very much and Gecks too. They have great energy that keeps me into the game and with someone like Marxist, I get tactical knowledge about what is going on. All in all, people here and on reddit seem to think that they can talk shit about casters and their performance, yet they have no appreciation of what it takes to step up and take that responsibility. It's easy to type something; however, if you put any one of them in the same seat with the mic on them for a whole match, almost all will deliver a far worse cast than these guys can.

It's sad to see people trashing the few dedicated members of the community who cast invite matches.
Our community has to grow up, you can't be a picky brat with who talks about the video game you play when the scene is as small as ours. These guys pay money out of pocket to attend LANs and still comments on youtube berate them even after hours of non-stop casting and working.

Consider what you say to these guys who do great work for our small scene and don't try and get rid of the few good casters we have left.

Keep up the good work and only take the actually useful criticism from viewers, because there are many like me who don't see a problem with how you do it and didn't see a reason to speak up, until now.

#20 FLan 2015 Discussion - Need community input in TF2 General Discussion

How about considering a portion for MGE, Ultiduo, or even better, 4v4. This gamemode would bring teams of players that still requires cohesion but not large amounts of player to get there (like HL).

The prize money for 4s (if any) would of course be much less, but it could attract some more casual players since 4s isn't a "real" game mode yet.
I have a 4s team all in FL, so I think that it would be great to get to drive somewhere and meet other players who just want to have fun and play some TF2.

I love what you're doing for the community and even putting in money and time for this event to happen. If it does, I'd try my hardest to get there.

Thanks!

#619 How to Get to In-Game Comp Lobbies in TF2 General Discussion
SoapDannThe least Valve could do is pay back to the community that brings them in MILLIONS of dollars in revenue. They take a 10% cut of all steam community sales for TF2 and unusuals worth hundreds even thousands of dollars trade hands every day, not to mention all the keys and hats and paints bought every day in the Mann Co Store. The fact they make so much money from the store should not be a motive to NOT make comp more known about but the very opposite.
Valve is a business, they are better off promoting their products that have established competitive scenes.

So TF2 can't get support their own creators because it hasn't been in the competitive scene for long enough?
This makes no sense. It would mean that games that didn't have an older version that was then turned into a dedicated competitive game will be able to succeed in the competitive world which is ludicrous. TF2 has the capacity to become a larger comp scene with the support of Valve. They don't need to pour in the kind of dedication they do for DotA or CSGO (that would be amazing) but simply acknowledge the competitive community by providing some (albeit however small) monetary incentive for players to take this phenomenal game to the next level in the competitive gaming community.

#613 How to Get to In-Game Comp Lobbies in TF2 General Discussion
SoapDoesn't seem worth the investment to me.

TF2 does have a decent amount of potential for some intense competitive play. The fact that it hasn't reached any height of popularity is due to the fact that maybe 1% of ALL players even know that it exists (I owned the game for 2 years playing most days with absolutely no idea that my skill could be taken to any sort of a next level). If it were at least MENTIONED by Valve to the average pub player, its popularity would drastically increase because they would try to get into it and learn more advanced tactics to make the game overall more enjoyable when pubbing, and the player base of 6v6 and Highlander would go up as more people actually UNDERSTAND how to play them.

SoapIts not even worth Valves time to support the dwindling competitive TF2 scene when they are going to make more revenue off the mann co store and their other traditionally competitive games.

The least Valve could do is pay back to the community that brings them in MILLIONS of dollars in revenue.
No one's asking for an 18 million dollar prize pool, all we want is SOME support and maybe some small amounts of money ($10,000? that is a pittance compared to the cash they rake in) just to show that they actually care about the competitive community so that the little serious gameplay that exists doesn't die off.
