Wow, multistage A/D seems like a really cool concept and I've wanted Hydro to be actually good since forever. MEGAthanks for deciding to work on this. If any folks end up playtesting, I'd love to participate.

#16 Need new comfortable headphones with crisp audio! in Hardware

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-HD-380-Pro-Collapsible/dp/B001UE6I0G

Will recommend these incessantly. I've heavily heavily used a pair for 4 years and they still work fantastic. No "plastic cracks" as people are complaining here. Excellent flat frequency response. No gaming or big bass gimmicks, these are just designed for ACCURATE presentation of sound, intended for monitoring purposes.

Through my continuous recommendation, two friends have bought them for their own upgrades over the years and they still thank me, as they've been very very pleased! Skim through the amazon reviews too if you're unsure. Good for literally everything that plays audio (games, music, etc etc), because they're remarkably precise! No wonky scoops and boosts across the frequency spectrum as so many (even expensive "good" headphones) have.

Major downside for you is no cloth insides, they're a more matte leather material.

#10 the ultimate question in The Dumpster

I was thinking the other day about peoples' personas when they are almost seen as characters from one's own perspective. It's like, when you don't know someone, the tendency is much higher to kind of view them as this abstract thing, so it's both easier to glorify/praise them and to shit talk/complain about them. It's weird the way it seems to happen in so many avenues of life, that we make little jokes about people. And whether these jokes portray exaggeratory positive or negative images of the people we are describing, it's never actually about the people.

I've had a running joke with some of my friends about a person we were yet to meet but we're expecting to meet. The joke escalated to such extreme and probably offensive heights the longer it went on before actually meeting this person, before unveiling themselves into our realities. Until that was to actually happen, the person is just an image, a character in our minds, like they really didnt exist yet on a human level. It was no different from the character on the TV screens, and that's why it was so easy to be so crazy when talking about them. Because we never met them. So as ridiculous as our speculations and assertions were, this is the only type of person it probably would be okay to feel free to make such a massive joke out of. Usually, this is the sort of thing I think most people avoid once they actually know the person. Then there is real guilt that comes with it (once you actually know them). But when it's just another flat character you're looking at on the ceiling of your inner brain roof, you can really do anything to it. It's the same way people are so able to get worked up over politicians or a football game. IM GONNA ***** *** * KILL PEYT*N M*NNING!! HILLARy TRuMP makes me go -- FUCK!!!

I feel like I've had this happen to me with so many people in life where I knew a persona of them before really actually knowing them as a dynamic actual human being I had an interpersonal relationship with. I had to step back from whatever that image was that I had of them. With people that I really admired and had been wanting to meet for a long time, it's almost like I had to kind of lower that respect and realize that that person is just like every other joe schmoe you pass by on the train or whatever that seems equally bored with everything and equally unparticipatory in your world as you pass them by. And with people I had hated that I would somehow accidentally run into or meet them in a more human capacity, i had to sort of raise the bar for them, because in those cases, I reached the same conclusions, but just approaching from a different departure point. Coming from man I fucking HATE ____ to, ohh, they're probably actually a lot like me 90% of the time.

It makes me wonder what kind of things like Gavrilo Princip or Kim Jong Un are thinking about when their minds are not focused on political dynamics, or any of those other things i might come to criticize or love them for. When those things come out of frame, out of sight, what are those people thinking about?? What does Kobe Bryant think about outside of the 3 hours a week I'm used to scrutinizing him. What's in his brain when he's not on the court? What was Tiger Woods thinking about when he kind of lost track of reality daydreaming in his car one day listening to his favorite record on the stereo, just like you and I would. I wonder what he was thinking about. In some sense, I feel like at that core level, that's where the most telling differences are of people. I think whether I'd want to fuck or kill someone genuinely has more to do with what kind of shit they're probably daydreaming about or what kind of simple human anxieties they have than it is what kind of music they like, the politics they follow, the main hobbies they have, or anything else that seems to be seen as so substantial. I hope I'm getting this point across well, but I feel like the variable of these very basic, very core things within people are the only thing I can really find many distinctions in between us. We all want so many of the same things at the end of the day. What kind of nostalgic thoughts does getawhale have? What goes on in Showstopper's mind in the lolls of his assumably boring entry level dayjob? What's Shade "paradise fantasy" look like when he conjures it into his mind in the last minute of his tri-weekly morning run for that finale of motivation?

I don't think I or anyone really are going to stop doing this anytime soon. Like I'm still gonna find someone to hate and someone to love I don't know, so long as they are just set of information in my mind. Until they become a real dynamic stimulant in my mental ecosystem, I see no problem with breaking and bashing them or lovemaking them in whatever way I desire. I just want those people I'm violating in my consciousness to understand it has nothing to do with them, I'm just violating projections of my mind. Much in the same way I might shit on someone else as an indirect or direct 'fuck you' to myself or any of my past behaviors. ie. I hate what you just did because man I fucking hate when I do that! But hey, once any of those characters come to life, once I've met you, I probably won't really mean any of those fantasies of extreme action I carried out in my mind or romanticized.

i was just like thinking about how its different the way we treat people when they are just a symbol of a real person existing only inside our mind vs. when their existence in our mind reflects a real relationship with a human being like yourself. its cool to get mad and fuck people you dont know, because thats just the shit going down in your mental playground — we usually stop doing that kind of shit once we actually know you. so yeah, just think about all the people rubbing you off and slitting your throat in their heads (although really its probably no one, beacuse we're all so much more concerned with what others think about us than making our judgements on others in our spare mental time) and realize that it's not as morbid as it seems, because they're not really wanting to do it to you! they're doing it to a set of associated neural impulses and connections within their own brain that happens to have a memento that resembles you

Not sure if it's mentioned here, but cook all your own meals.

Pre-cooked/insta meals/ready baking mixes don't count. You gotta make shit from scratch.

#1661 PC Build Thread in Hardware
Setsul#1659
When are you going to build?

2000$ seems overkill.
Frankly I have no idea how much CPU/GPU power and RAM you'll need.
Rough estimate? Or just your current build and then that times x.

I'm planning to build as soon as I order the parts. So, now, more or less.

I am aware that $2000 is a lot. I want a beast.

I'd say 32GB RAM and a stronger CPU is more important than a strong GPU, especially for audio work. Also, I'll probably put $200-300 towards hard drives/SSD's.

#1658 PC Build Thread in Hardware

Looking for part suggestions on a hackintosh/dual OS build. Here's a list of parts that have confirmed compatibility with OS X.

Will be using the machine 75% of the time for audio processing on OS X, 25% video editing/photoshop on PC/OS X. Definitely want something designed for these uses, as I don't need it to run X modern game @ 100 fps on Max settings.

It's possible I'll be playing TF2 on it at some point, so if it could run TF2 well @ lowest settings, that would be good.

Budget is $2000. Already have monitor/peripherals sorted out

Parts need to be UK shipping friendly (Amazon UK, Newegg UK, etc). Any help is appreciated, thanks!
