I like it a lot I got their lifetime unlimited package for 35 bucks when they were first starting out. Works great from the Linux cli!

#38 Spudd and alle config in The Dumpster

1) What is it with people thinking using someone else settings will make you instantly good?

2) I'm sure that 98% of players configs are pretty much the same thing (network settings, fps config, and personal preferences). There is almost zero benefit from asking for them. (Unless you want to just look through them for fun or something?

#8 Cleaning up my PC in Hardware
Brimstonemy favorite method is backing up only the things i absolutely need/want

and then reinstalling my os

Thats the best way to do it, but sometimes its not possible to convince the end user to do this :(

(Or sometimes I have seen computers locked down so where it wont boot to a cd/dvd or a usb drive, in which case your fucked)

#10 Games are lagging in Q/A Help
lolmikesInstall Manjaro

You got the Linux meme wrong. Its install Gentoo. (Also I have done it, its not worth the pain in the ass of having to custom compile your kernel from the ground up and waiting for 3+ hours for it to install)

As for fixing your fps with a factory reset some info on your operating system and what got installed with that factory reset would be nice. (I have seen thous "recovery" partitions load the computer up with a bunch of junk ware from the factory. It really pisses me off that manufactures STILL install bloatware on their computers. Why would you ruin a users experience on their new computer???)

#13 how to improve consistency in TF2 General Discussion

I dont get why rawinput isn't just turned on by default. It makes no seance to have it off. (Unless your on Linux where you have to use a script to disable it and turning on rawinput makes the game unplayable.)

#3 Cleaning up my PC in Hardware

Simple steps include
1) Check system temperatures using tools like MSI Afterburner and CoreTemp. If temps are bad check to make sure that fans are spinning and heat sinks are properly mounted. Change thermal paste if needed.

2) Use a shop vac on blower mode to blow the dust out of your computer..

3) Run system maintenance and malware removal tools like MalwareBytes/ADW cleaner/ Hitman Pro.

4) Run disk cleanup.

Look at the fps guide on my profile here.

Add me if you need further help!

Good luck!

Also the blanket down voting in these kind of threads because people trying to help are not Setsul is silly, but since me saying this is going to get me down fragged have fun.

#10 Need more FPS in Customization
toads_tfBurningSmileUse Linux!

(For a shitty laptop, Lubuntu is a good option, it doesn't look pretty but the point is to use the lowest amount of resources possible next to just a cli. ) Pretty much any Linux distro is better than windows from an optimization standpoint.

(If you refuse to switch to Linux for 1 reason or another, look at my fps guide here, (Main focus is installing Comanglia's fps config and removal of junkware))

Also check for driver updates for your video card from Nvidia or amd directly. DO NOT USE a "driver updater" they are snake oil 90% of the time.
i noticed that linux performed better for me in many, many ways, but when i played tf2, i got far less FPS

do you know what the cause of that could be?

What gpu do you have? If you are on Nvidia make sure you use the Nvidia proprietary drivers. If you are on AMD then prepare for a nightmare with drivers due to AMD's poor support for Linux. When I compared my system with an i7 6700 at 4.8 ghz and 2 980 TI's I got about 10 fps more on Arch with Gnome 3 over windows 10. (Windows had tweaks to optimize it)

#2 PC for TF2 & School + Old Monitor in Hardware

Your best bet (For if you have almost no money) is craigslist or ebay. Once you get it put a CLEAN COPY OF WINDOWS ON IT(Do not use whatever comes on it as you have no idea what the hell has been on the drive. Just wipe it and install a fresh copy for the previous owners privacy and to make sure you dont have anything malicious running) followed by a dual boot with a lightweight Linux distro like lubuntu. Do some testing and find out which one works better for that hardware. (My guess is Linux will win as its extremely light weight)
