Penciljumping: is it any good?

kaidusI always thought pencil jumping was when you do a really shit jump with very little forward momentum and no strafing.
TommyOne of my friends penciljumps and it is very hard to airshot. I dont think pencilumping and jump mapping is mutually exclusive because he is better than most at jump maps.
Wait if it's just a really simple up and down jump why is it hard to hit? Or am I imagining the wrong thing.
