#198 Fat shaming in Off Topic
smakers

The difference is that generally being obese is correlated to some other traits outside of their weight, such as laziness, eating habits, motivation, etc., while being transgender is not related to any such traits.

Obesity is seen as the RESULT of negative traits, hence people are judged for it.

Being transgender is not the result of anything other than being transgender. It has no bearing on the person inside the body.

#61 Fat shaming in Off Topic

From my experience every obese person i have met is either very lazy, has terrible eating habits or both. Now I know there are some people who's weight is out of their control, but from what I've seen that's an extreme minority.

I'm a civil person so I am never mean to them because of it, but unfortunately I do judge them.

#84 qf is just a scapegoat in TF2 General Discussion
hookyrr-If people are really upset over how things slow down the game, why isn't heavy pyro engineer sniper and spy banned yet.Because banning classes would make 6s look a lot worse from the outside than banning weapons.

Try because pyro/heavy/engy/spy/sniper are really only viable in niche situations and when used outside of them there are pretty well known and strong counters to them. I don't understand this whole "we do things to make our game appeal to outsiders" bullshit. The reason we don't ban these classes is because they add variation to the meta in a handful of circumstances, and are pretty bad elsewhere.

#61 ESEA Quick Fix Ruling in TF2 General Discussion

Pretty much a clash between players who think this game should be about who can best perfect the established arena vs who can best adapt to a changing one.

Should have been banned mid season. In principle I think it should be left to an invite vote, but honestly I'm just glad it's banned.

Very good listener and team player. Kiddo's got some fine DM too. Will be a fine pick for a top open / IM team for next season.

#10 ESEA S15 NA Main Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

I don't see why they would move so few teams from open up.

Basically what you suggested would be keeping the same teams moving out of open as past seasons, and simply splitting what would have been IM in half.

If the purpose is to have skill more evenly divided between divisions, that would really do nothing to ease the gap between high and low open. What I suggested in my edit seems more logical to me. That being:

9-10 team invite made of surviving invite teams, rebuilt invite teams, and two moveups from s14 IM.
~12 team Main formed by ranks 3-12 from s14 IM and 1-2 from s14 open.
~28 team IM from the bottom few teams of s14 IM and the top ~25 from s14 open, except ranks 1 and 2.
50+ team open from remaining open teams and new teams.

This way the expected "top open" would be moved to IM, hence lowering the skill ceiling of open and allowing low teams to stand a better chance.

Of course it would also be best if some judgement could be made about placing new teams with previous invite/IM experience in IM to further remove "top open", but i doubt that will happen.

#7 ESEA S15 NA Main Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

#6

At least they can say like "we are planning on taking the x-y spots from IM, and the 1-z spots from open into main." Of course it wouldn't be set in stone but it would give borderline IM/Main teams an idea of what to be expecting.

Edit:
For all we know every s14 IM team that was even somewhat competitive will be moving up and the new IM will be filled with the top third of last season's open and the absolute bottom of s14 IM. Considering all we are going on now is lpkane's "10+ team main" it's really hard to make any accurate speculation.

#37 ESEA League S15 - EU TF2, MAIN DIVISION $90k+ in Prizes in News
Tang_UnI don't really see an incentive for any EU teams lower than prem to play in esea

going to get wrecked by top teams+have to pay+no chance of getting prize

It's really not that different from what low open teams experience in NA. There are always a handful of top open teams that WILL crush them. Sure the top euro teams are much better than high open but what's the difference in one seven minute 5-0 from the next?

Probably going. I'll be driving from College Park, MD, but I probably only have room for one extra.

Also looking to scout for a team of beautiful gamers, or pocket for a team of average looking ones.

#4 Computer Engineer in Off Topic

In my highschool i did both the engineering academy and the computer science academy. Most of the engineering stuff hasn't been important to my major (electrical engineering) because a lot of it was CAD type stuff that would be important for a civil or mechanical engineer. We did have one digital logic course that helped me have a head-start when i went to college.

For a computer engineer, the most important things to focus on that may be offered in highschool would be circuitry, digital logic, computer science, and math. I doubt your school offers anything on low-level computer design (archatectures, assembly, etc) but if they do that would be great. One other thing that would be helpful is to try to work your way up to taking AP Physics B/C, Electricity and Magnetism, before you graduate.

My advice would be to find out what exactly you will be doing in the engineering classes vs the IT classes. How deeply does the IT work delve into computer science, and how much does the engineering focus on circuits and digital design? Also CE is VERY heavy in computer science. If your school offers CS classes, which most do, take those.
