edit: but seriously though, do people know how to solve these issues?

#9 SpillProff's Config in Customization

Why are we discouraging people from spending time and effort trying to make configs for a game with such shitty optimization as this?
There's a reason the CUSTOMIZATION section exists. Comanglia's isn't being updated so the only other one other than the " randos' " is mastercoms. Some people like spending time making their own configs and some people are lazy and want options of configs. After all, it's a forum based around TF2. Jeez it's as if people are complaining about too many HUDs being released.
If you're happy with your current config, that's great. Ignore this thread. You can look at your unrelated daily shitposts instead.

#69 OH SHIT in TF2 General Discussion

Guys, I hate trying to rain on people's parades and love 6s growing, but I'm gonna be the first to admit that Sigafoo and co. have got a point.

ESEA Premium is $19.95 for a three month subscription ($6.95 for 1 month, $37.95 for 6, $69.95 for 12), not that large of a step down from the $9.95 extra for the league fee. With the cost still pretty high, there isn't going to be a mass migration of new teams into ESEA.

So essentially we have ESEA lowering the barrier to entry into Open through cost, lowering it even more through lesser skilled teams joining thereby making Open easier, and removing the prize pool for Open. If more than 12 extra teams join, ESEA makes the same money because they don't have to pay out a prize pool (and lose 33% from the fee). To keep Open friendly and inviting to newer teams, all mid-Open and higher teams have to move up to IM which they will have to do anyways to keep playing in a higher-skilled environment where their fee is $14.95.

To recap, most good Open teams move up to IM, pay $5 more.* Not so good Open teams face a more diluted division now with no prize money and still have to pay $20. ESEA either makes more money or loses none.

I'm not sure we're the ones winning and it might be kind of early to start celebrating the revival of NA TF2.

*Edit: $5 more THAN THEY DO NOW. $34.90 to play at a current mid-open level

#1 LFP LAST PLACE OPEN (probably) in Recruitment (looking for players)

If you've played in ESEA before, you're 10x better than anyone on this team and should probably ignore this.

For the sake of full transparency, nobody here has played pugchamp or played at a level above UGC Steel (I don't think we're noobs just inexperienced and haven't put a lot of time into the game). We love this game and this scene and do very much want to play at the highest level one day, but are at that stage of our lives where it's extremely unlikely we'll be able to play in 1.5 years time. So we decided to make the most of the time we have left; as efficiently as possible and jump straight in.

Looking for very dedicated players, like EXTREMELY dedicated, willing to stick together for at least two complete seasons even if we get rolled every match. Willing to spend no less than 20 hours a week (often more) grinding DM, scrimming, reviewing demos, going over strategies together, etc. Egohéads will not be tolerated and if you make it on the team, you won't be kicked unless it's something ridiculous. Guaranteed non-toxic atmosphere and the person willing to put the least effort will be you.
ALSO WILLING TO COMPLETE A 18 HOUR "COURSE" ON COMPETITIVE TF2 BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS IN JANUARY (basically a collection of videos that we found helpful)

Maybe you're someone who watches every cast obsessively but is stuck in UGC because you can't find teams without two ringers every match or you get fatkidded in pugchamp desperate for a chance to prove yourself, and you know every MR SLIN video by heart and made your own trading cards of your favorite players and teams, this experiment may be for you.

#23 ESEA S26 GF: froyotech vs. SVIFT NA in Matches
AccordThe org that b4nny helped create now will crush him and topple froyotech

This would be an amazing storyline in a scene with actual orgs. Teams in TF2 are literally just six players deciding to play together with a name and a logo (and maybe a twitter and some t-shirts). No coaches, no managers, no sponsors, etc. Calling them orgs seems a bit disingenuous.

#10 Best TF2 videos of all time in TF2 General Discussion

Weightless by Afterglow
extremely underrated IMO, the amount of editting in this and how much time it took blows my mind. Deserves more views than it has and shows off the other skillful parts that TF2 has to offer without the toxicity.

Clockwork 6k PUG
more than airshots, just reaching that skill ceiling and being able to just make crazy plays like this is what I imagine motivates a lot of people to play comp and esports in general

PSA: please put a title next to your link in these types of threads so people don't have to click like twenty links to see what vids they are

#22 throwing in Esports

In all the competitive games I've played, like 50% of the really good players I've met only play to pound noobs. That was their whole incentive to grind and get good. Please don't rob them of that.

good players destroy bad players motivating bad players to get good to cause the same pain they were dealt. The perfect cycle.
