I built a PC with an ASUS Z390-I gaming motherboard that uses the RealTek audio drivers, and I can only get sound using the audio jack located on my VG248QE monitor. I've reinstalled the Realtek drivers, but I still cannot get sound output from my motherboard itself. Additionally, my microphone is not even detected.

The monitor is connected via Displayport.

make sure the audio drivers you get are from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

go into the device manager (right click volume icon>sounds) and in the playback tab right click>disable all devices except the one you actually want to use.

Just uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers (from Asus's website for my motherboard) and disabled the audio on my monitor. Still not working. Here's a screenshot of my device manager: https://ibb.co/Lr5spW4

i think i had a similar problem and realtek takes the sound devices plugged into the motherboard and lets u choose inside the realtek software which one shows up as "realtek digital output" in ur devices and just hides the rest in windows some reason

Yeah, it's bizarre. I reinstalled my OS and everything seems to be working... Although it selects the speakers as the digital out, and the "Realtek Digital Output" does not appear to be in use.

Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciated it!
