Lange mentioned on his stream that the in-game TF2 crosshairs themselves aren't centered, may be the case here

This is correct. This is the best you can do without exerting excessive effort to adjust the circle to fit around the stock xhair since you can't move the stock xhair itself.

Tons of people have the same setup going on, myself included. I doubt many of them have painstakingly attempted to rectify this problem. I sure haven't. You don't notice while playing so don't worry about it.

as dave said, the only perfectly accurate thing that came with default tf2 is the sniper's scoped in dot, use that to center crosshairs.

You want to adjust the circle, not the cross. That's the default crosshair. It's aligned with the sniper dot (for the most part) and you can't move it anyway.

the circle in the sniper's dot is in the center. first, try to adjust the xpos/ypos of your hud crosshair to match the sniper dot. if that doesn't work, sometimes messing with the tall/wide values can help fine-tune the positioning. if neither of these give you what you're looking for, you're gonna need to adjust the size of the font you're using for your hud crosshair until you find one that will center perfectly.

this can be a bitch of a process but it is possible to make almost any hud crosshair perfectly centered, just maybe not at the exact size you wanted to use.
