There was a time like 3 years ago where I literally played only mge and scrims. I think I made it to like 2000 elo on one of the popular servers and shit just burnt me out of tf2 I like quit (the first time) after my team died. Dm is way better than mge, but whenever I go into mge I just ignore chat and voice_enable 0 helps a lot. If someone is playing gay most of the time I just leave, it's really not worth your time, especially if you're having fun or trying to practice.
btw u can never leave tf2.

hitting airshots is fun for me so I guess it's just preference, you honestly just need to learn not to care about win/losses, !eloscore !hud and turn off voice and maybe chat if you want. Or you can just ignore it.
When I was really bad I used to play mge with my teammates instead of randoms which made it a lot of bearable

I would honestly not recommend only playing mge with one or two friends. Everyone strafes differently and eventually you'll just lock yourself into the muscle memory you have for how to hit your friend. While it may suck honestly playing pub mge is the best way to improve your aim since youre exposing yourself to a wider span of situations than you otherwise would if just playing a friend (assuming your opponent has discovered the crouch button when jumping). That being said, I found that playing dm was alot better for me due to how similar every fight you have in mge is. DM gives you far more situations to deal with and ultimately gives you alot better general aim than mge ever will.

I've found out that only playing a couple of rounds at a time is subject to this problem, but if you're doing an extended session for about an hour or more then both players start adapting/learning and they will generally end up strafing differently after an extended amount of practice
