They Are Living Among Us

So I was thinking the other day, as I waltzed through the forum and various stream chats, that there are quite a few people involved in the TF2 competitive community. Being new to the competitive scene, I really don't know much about these people, other than their username and what they are doing now. For example I know that enigma runs this website and that he plays in invite. That's about it.

My idea is that some sort of 'bios' section should be created, or just a thread, kind of giving background such as how long they've played comp TF2, what got them interested, past teams, championships/competitions won etc. And not just for invite players, people like cbear, djc, Cinq, TrukTruk, Stultus, Wreath - who I always hear gets shoutouts, but I'm not really sure what she does. (She? sorry?) - and so on. Make it fun and maybe add interesting facts such as favorite video game/TF2 character etc. I don't know, maybe its a bad idea. But c'mon, who doesn't want to see a Gyggly bio? Or stultus for that matter. Who is that guy? And just who are the reptile shapeshifters?

Where are they now? They are living among us. Average citizens, average heroes. Quietly and anonymously continuing to make the world a better place.

would the bios be getting made by the players themselves or volunteers, or would it be a combination of both.

flipperswould the bios be getting made by the players themselves or volunteers, or would it be a combination of both.

Maybe a community effort, wiki style? Or someone who is familiar with that player/person. I'm not sure if we could get each player to create a 'non-biased' bio of him/herself.

Not a bad idea, you could create pages for the teams, or iterations of the invite teams as well.

This would be cool for old teams and their rosters in seasons past. I can't be the only one who nerds out and looks at the rosters of old teams.

While that's a good idea, I wonder if integration with this site, teamfortress.tv would be possible.

A wiki, or maybe just a bios/teams section tab for now perhaps?

I've always enjoyed the comp smash player wiki, it's a pretty cool idea

http://www.ssbwiki.com/Category:Smashers

Also it makes rubbernecking easier and less awkward

as much as i understand the reason for it, the "deceased smashers" section is kind of uncomfortable

Regardless, I wonder what it would take to set this up. I'm not privy myself to any info about the various personalities in the community, much less have any important contacts or be connected, but I'm more than willing to lend what editing and writing skills I have. This would probably be quite a bit to add to this site all at once, and I know we are all excited and waiting to see the "Guides" section.

Along with bios of players, it should shed some light on pushing methods, playstyles, etc. Something like the wiki Teamliquid has.

GeMAlong with bios of players, it should shed some light on pushing methods, playstyles, etc. Something like the wiki Teamliquid has.

I think Team rosters and players/casters/community personalities would be good for now. Pushing methods and playstyles can either go on the official wiki like stated above - or in the guides section here, once that is completed/unveiled.

Edit: Oh wait, are you talking about individual playstyles? eg. Clockwork is a dm scout, etc.?

Something like that. Passive scout play, retard roaming soldier, stuff like that. Maybe even getting into the mechanics of the game like aiming styles and such (I always like a quick read no matter how irrelevant)
