im using amd software and i was able to play stretched by turning off gpu scaling on my old monitor. im on a new monitor now and it just forces me to play with black bars.

i tried fiddling with some settings but no luck. any suggestions??

I recently got 4:3 stretched working after not being able to play on it for over a year.

Open up crimson and go to Display: GPU scaling ON, Scaling mode FULL PANEL.
Then go to Gaming and, as speedy recommended, if TF2 is there just reset profile, disable profile, delete profile and just re-add it. Now all you have to do is click on TF2, go to Profile Options and set Display scaling to FULL PANEL.

If it doesn't work completely uninstall your video drivers, reinstall them and try again. Trust.

Mine works with gpu scaling off and both set to full panel and I have a custom resolution set but I don't know if that does anything

Sorry I'm not familiar with amd so this is a temporary solution but before you start your game switch to whatever resolution you want and then start tf2, it should get rid of the black bars (downside is you have to keep switching back to your native res after you're done playing).

lol

edit: ok i changed the monitor settings to english but the only display settings i can do is change it from "wide" to "4:3" which basically squishes 1920x1080 so it doesnt work
