In the market for some new headsets. Been using apple earbuds + blue snowball since old ones broke D:

Over the ear cups w/ closed back
Crisp sound quality w/ decent bass
Decent mod mic, but not mandatory to have (snowball has been giving me troubles since its on desk. Still usable)
Price range is pretty wide, but basically anything <175$ USD would be ideal.

Would like some input and recommendations from anyone who knows of any quality headsets of this description, as i have little experience in the field of peripherals in general

Thanks, and much appreciated!

Audio Technica M50x's are pretty good and fit the bill of what you're looking for, I'd say :)

sennheiser and audio-technica are usually the go-to for headphone recommendations

hi I've never owned either of the brands suggested but Logitech's g430 & g930 are very good, effectively the same except one is wireless. I never used the mic on either because I had a desk mic.

reasonably priced
very good audio quality
above average bass

m40x for flat response, beyerdynamic dt 770 for a more bassy signature
the dt 770 are usually more recommended over the m50x when looking for a bass heavy headphone sound and comfort wise, although the m50x are foldable and thus more portable
if you're not gonna using the snowball then go for the hyperx cloud/cloud2/revolver or the sennheiser game zero

ATH-M40x is better than the M50x imo, but there is also a difference between bass quality and quantity. If you want quality go with the M40x if you want quantity go with the M50x. The M50x also are way too sharp on the ears for most people, the highs are ridiculously emphasized.

My personal recommendation would be the VMODA M100 (currently $200ish on amazon, regularly drops to $150ish) which are also compatible with the vmoda boom pro mic. The DT770s (would have to use modmic) are also a good bet, and your onboard sound should be able to push 80ohms.

Edit - The Sony MDR-1A are exactly $175 right now. GET THOSE

Beyerdynamic DT770. The M50x's have been outshined by other headphones with similar price points. The DT770s, 598cs, and even the m40x's have "better" sound signatures as far as closed backs go. Personally I would only go with the m50x's if you need the portability, the folding and rotating cups are very nice. The 598cs and the DTT770's aren't portable at all, but they're fairly durable.

Some things to compare:
The DT770s don't have a removable cable like the m50x's, or the 598cs.
The DT770s are going to be harder to drive, unless you get the 32ohm version(I can recommend the 80ohm but it's all preference)
The m50x's, and the 598cs both have removable cables, and there are attachment boom mics you can even get, instead of a modmic.

Personally I'm using a pair of 598cs, with a small Sony electret mic clipped to my shirt. I wouldn't call the newer 598cs bass head cans, but theyre definitely more bass-y than the normal 598s. Personally for you I'd go for the DT770 32ohms. There's also the V-moda M100 which are very good, but are a bit out of your price range.

I have not used any of the siberia headsets but from the pictures it looks like those are open backs, not closed like OP specified.

I've had them for years. You could probably get a bit more bang with headphones, but it's still a very wonderful headset.
