Class-Specific Spawnpoints

Over at TF2maps.net, AlexCookie has updated the ABS pack's fgd to enable class-specific spawnpoints.

I can imagine this being useful in comp maps, in order to remove any RNG from the spawn locations. This gives rise to the question of whether you guys would be interested in this feature being used, and if so, what the best configuration of spawn points would be.

Hopefully Valve will use this method for Matchmaking and get rid of the closed door gimmick.

aust_nWhat does this actually do, for a noob

it makes the spawnpoints class-specific, for ex. if you're a scout you will always spawn in one place, but you wont spawn there as a for ex. engi

Wat, if this is possible, why has it not been used for 9 years?

Pretty sure it was added a while back, but since everyone uses the ABS pack, his pack didn't have this.

Very cool that this is publicly accessible for mappers in an easy format now.

Do some maps already use something like this? I swear I always find my demo in the same spot beginning rollouts on some maps, e.g. metalworks.

Okay so I just tried using it in Monolith. It looks like it does spawn the class that you've picked if it's available, but say you have a Soldier only spawn, a Medic only spawn and an Any class spawn, it will still spawn, say, a Demoman from the Medic spawn if there is no Medic to spawn there. So there might still be some issues we might have to talk to Jill about fixing with that then.
