without using unsigned drivers you have really really shitty max tracking speeds with older mice

125Hz for WMO 1.1a and IME 3 you got about ~1m/s for your max tracking speed
500Hz or 1000Hz for those mice you got about ~1.8m/s for your max tracking speed

for reference https://youtu.be/0vO0IKY-0ig?t=15s
when I'm flicking back and forth their to see where the soldier is I'm moving my mouse around 2.5-3 m/s then again I was using a 20.5in(53cm)/360. I know when I was playing soldier with that sensitivity doing rocket jumps I'd regularly hit 3.5m/s or higher.

using those mice without overclocking them is nigh impossible for anything much slower than a 7in (18cm)
about the only way you could is if you used acceleration at this point and tbh source accel for the most part blows.

Some mice max tracking speeds I know
g400 ~3.8m/s
g400s ~4.5m/s
g303 ~7m/s (might be higher I can't move my mouse much faster than 6m/s without pretty much throwing it)
zowie fk ~3.5m/s
Zowie EC2-a benq ~5.5m/s

measured with a steelseries qck XXL

Yer an idiot.
I make the g400s malfunction during normal soldier gameplay @ 14 in 360 and that mouse has a max tracking speed (4.5 m/s) much higher than the pathetic 1.5 m/s you can get from a OC'd intellimouse. It is even worse in ESEA where you can't use unsigned drivers to OC the polling rate reducing it even further to 1 m/s.

The intellimouse was top tier when it was new but now it is time to give it up. There is no sane reason to recommend this mouse to anyone considering the myriad of better options.

i've just ordered a zowie ec1 so i'll share my opinions on the significance of polling rate & any other nifty things when i get to using it. i couldn't resist how similar the shape is to the i.m.e.

i've been using it for about a week now and i really like it. it feels super nice and the sensor seems great actually. it's marginally heavier than any mouse i can remember using but that's neither here or there as it only takes like 2 hrs to get used to things like that. the plug-and-play manual dpi/polling rate switches are cool. feels best to me on 500hz, 1000hz is really smooth but it's almost like playing with a higher sens or accel. could probably get used to it but there's no point when i don't have to. the m1/m2 fit pretty much any grip style. i use a fairly light claw grip and i love it.
tracking/smoothness is definitely an upgrade from the IME but i still love using that mouse with a high sens.

definitely rec

i would advise against buying any mouse that uses dpi as a selling point lol

What's wrong with it? People always get the 550m, I never hear about that one.

first of all the surface is the cheapest material ever. simply sliding in my hands. the scroll is just horrible: hard to click, too easy to scroll (and harder to feel the scroll steps). the usb end has a trapezoid form, which means i cannot fit any other usb device next to it (what the shit). and my favorite part (despite the fact that i really dont care about the lights): never sets the correct colour. the fact their site says its german can be a lie as well: the homepage ip is from taiwan, the official adress is at taiwan, it was made in china, and the CE logo is incorrect on the bottom. the only reason ive bought it, cause it has 3 years of garantee and was suppose to made by german folk.

my castor just arrived. surface is quality rubber, really stays stable in my hands. has a special place for the ringfinger (!), and the software doesnt have to run, just stores everything onboard. the scroll is not bad. correct CE, and a swedish flag on the box proving that little drawfs were making these mice just for gamers.

i had an mx518, but its a pain in the ass to set it on higher polling rate on win10, and it might sound wierd, but the left part of it just started to melt/peel off like it has skin cancer of some kind. i used to play with it on a glass pad which was handled with some acid (basicly a avg bathroom window part). was working really good. HOWEVER: the logitech software was always buggy for me, and it started to change dpi settings on its own, otherwise i would have bought a logi now.

ps: whoever recommended castor for me on the tftv discord channel has my eternal gratitude

I hear you. Unfortunately you won't find a mouse that isn't manufactured in China or possibly Taiwan. Even the Mionix products say designed in Sweden, assembled in PRC. But some companies are definitely more deeply involved in the design process than others, which results in higher quality products.
Cougar is definitely in the lower end of that spectrum. They released 7 or so mouse models at once, and basically all they did was pick a shell and a sensor in a catalog, and slap their name on them.
The cougar 300m for example, is the same shell as the CM Storm Alcor and the Dharma Point DRTCM38 (Japanese brand).
If you ever want to sell it I may be interested at half price, as long as the shipping cost doesn't rape me.
