So i recently got a new laptop and the screen res is 1920 x 1080.

I put -w 1920 -h 900 in launch options, and when I launch TF2 I don't get any black bars, does this mean the game is auto scaling/stretching the 1920 x 900 resolution to my fullscreen (I am playing in fullscreen), or it's just using 1920 x 1080 anyways?

Thx..

1920x1080 = 16:9 aspect ratio
1600x900 = 16:9 aspect ratio

there are no black bars because there is no change in aspect ratio

I THINK (not really sure) that the -w and -h launch options are only for windowed.

rshades1920x1080 = 16:9 aspect ratio
1600x900 = 16:9 aspect ratio

he's doing 1920x900 not 1600x900

something to consider is that tf2 doesnt like random resolutions, it will essentially round up or down and here it has probably rounded up to 1920x1080

Yeah the game stretches unless you put -sw - you can put -fullscreen just to ensure you won't get black bars.

When you're in game you probably won't notice the res change, but your screenshots will be saved as 1920x900 rather than 1920x1080 even though it's fullscreen.

rshadesoh i cant read nvm

Nah you can I just edited from 1600 to 1920 because realized I made a typo ;)

@Knuckles No I don't think so, on my old laptop the native res was 1280 x 800 and I managed to run it at 1280 x 720 using the launch options in fullscreen, maybe I'm just not seeing the black bars cuz they're too small, haha

You have to stretch to fullscreen in your graphics driver otherwise TF2 will just round the resolution up when you are using fullscreen
