Anyone here playing it? I saw a thread about beta keys a few months back but never picked it up until recently. Really been enjoying it, not so sure about the third person perspective but other than that it's been great. The F2P model seems to be pretty nice actually and normally I hate those things. Asymmetrical third-person class-based shooter for those who haven't played, you play as the humans for one half and the vampires for the other.

Plus recently I read something a dev wrote that I loved. People were asking why the devs were going to make two different classes from the same vampire "clan" (idk, I never played any Legacy of Kain) instead of giving different abilities to the original class. The dev said that they really liked the original TF2 where any time you saw a certain class you knew exactly what you were going up against, vs. now where class roles and abilities have been muddied. Dev said that was their inspiration for the gameplay in a lot of ways, and I think it really shows. It apparently has a comp scene already so that's cool too. Now if only I could get more than 8 fps I'd absolutely love it.

The few games I played I loved it only problem is every time I join a game I get disconnected to the main menu. Also so many of my friends thinks this game is a moba it's not at all.

I had a lot of good times playing it, i stopped because of tf2. I was considering moving to this game competitively but never had the chance. They update it well there hasn't been any new maps since closed beta and they listen to the community.

I personally never played L4D competitively but in my opinion this is pretty close to it minus all the zombies. It takes strategy on how the vampires will coordinate and synchronize their pushes into getting everyone down. It's sorta like a l4d team deathmatch game.
If i remember correctly ESL keeps doing tournaments for that game and players think its best that the competitive mode would not be just tdm, something that like koth or some sort of capture point objective but who knows how they can do that.

I used to talk to some guy who was the best at the Sniper class in this game and he said the biggest issue was how overpowered Humans were at a high level but at lower levels Vampires were already too good. This left them in a weird state where buffing either team would hurt the game for the otherside of the playerbase.

I assume they've fixed queueing? Back when ESEA was giving away keys, I tried to play it with friends, but queueing would sometimes cause your teammates to not be in the same game, or not on the same team. It was kind of stupid.

Human did seem really easy though. Or maybe we weren't able to find good Vamp players, but it seemed any bit of coordination in humans could shut down vampires fairly easily.

The problem with the vampires at low levels is similar to the problem with spies in pubs and probably at the beginning of TF2. The game and community is on the newer side so people just don't really know how they're supposed to be playing, how they're supposed to hold, the sightlines they should watch, etc. I'm hoping that as the beta progresses the newer players will start figuring it out faster. If not, it's not too big of a problem as you have to play on both sides anyways.

I haven't queued a ton but I never had any issues when I did. I see a couple people complaining about queueing on the forums but I'm not sure how widespread that issue is.

Human side is really easy if you have any sort of situational awareness and at least mediocre teammates. Pretty much every vampire attack has some sort of audio cue you can hear before it starts, so if you keep your ears and eyes open you can dodge most of the initial damage.

RadmanHow does it compare to natural selection? is it faster? slower?

I haven't played much NS unfortunately so I can't really say. Most of the time it's about 30 seconds of the humans setting up their position, the vampires scouting and preparing, and then 30 seconds of really fast-paced fighting. Some maps encourage longer fights that last through multiple spawn waves, but in comp it's significantly slower. Usually a minute of scouting and preparation and a fight that's decided within about 15 seconds. It changes depending on your team composition though.

I tried it at PAX prime and got a closed beta key cuz ESEA premium. I haven't played as much as I could have but I think it's pretty fun. A friend told me he didn't like what they did to the Legacy of Cain game's lore, but I haven't played them so I don't know.

I really feel like the game would benefit a lot from some well designed and distinct maps. There are only a few places across all the original maps that were recognizable, like the docks on Freeport or the firepit on Valeholm (I think, can't remember). The Fane is a really cool map but it still feels mostly like a maze of buildings.
