VPN that works with TF2?

I'm looking for a VPN that works with TF2...

Basically, every service I've tried refuses to let me connect to TF2 servers. Is anyone out there using one that works with Steam? Preferably a fast one, but whatever works.

Thanks,

First of all, why the heck do you need a vpn.

Are you paying for any of these? You likely will need to for any good quality of service.

I use Private Internet Access not for tf2 though, it is a highly rated vpn and there is a sale for it right now in the link.

I strongly recommend against using a vpn to play games on though, you will get stuttering and your ping will be much higher more than likely. I just tried it for myself. I got 82 ping to a VA valve server, which is in my state, as well as really bad stuttering.

If you really want to know, I've been IP banned maliciously from several Mumble servers. Just looking to be able to comm with my team.

Thanks.

It lets you play on tf2 servers yeah, you'll most likely get stuttering and ping issues but maybe you'll get lucky. You can try out their service and see how it is for you.

You could probably VPN mumble and not TF2 and play fine (aside from comms that are a bit laggier), but if it's your team's mumble just get somebody to unban you?

Great, thank you.

If anyone else has suggestions, I'd be very appreciative.

Strangely, it's not an admin ban, but a straight-up 503 IP-ban from the server itself. I'm not even on the ban list :/ Whatever the server is, a whole lot of Mumble channels use it, including tf2center.com...which is probably what they were trying to prevent me from using in the first place.

Would you mind explaining how I could VPN mumble but not TF2? I didn't think this was possible...

I'm reading this as "I'm banned from tf2center how do I bypass it" so I'm not going to tell you how to do that, sorry.

I'm not banned from tf2center--I am not on the ban list; admins have even tried to assist me with my situation. I am IP banned by the Mumble server that hosts tf2center, which restricts me from lobby, djedi (who I know the owner of), my team (who I obviously know), and a number of others.

If you ask a tf2center admin if there are any IP bans for Mumble, I imagine the answer would be "no."

Nonetheless, I understand. I'll google it. Thanks.

I might be being dumb here, but wouldn't it be better to change your IP rather than pay for a VPN and suffer lag etc?

Using mommies credit card is easier than resetting your routers IP

I can't wait to hear your unfunny memes and squeaky child voice.
Maybe you should ask your mom if your memes are funny first.

I had to use a VPN at my uni because the ports for mumble were blocked etc.
http://www.earthvpn.com/
I've tried private internet access, vyprvpn, etc etc and they seemed to have an issue where you'd get random ping spikes which would cause you to lag out for a second. EarthVPN is also cheaper ($4/mo) and works better in my experience.

Just FYI using a VPN on Steam is against the Steam Subscriber Agreement. I don't know if they currently do anything about it, but I figured I'd provide a heads up.

Yeah I've used a VPN for Steam for quite a while with no issues. I don't think it's automatically enforced, I think it's one of those things they put in just in case somebody is abusing them.
