I have the best anti-scamming method

Have steam detect whenever a player's steam inventory market worth exceeds $25-$50, then the next time they start up steam, have a mandatory scamming informational packet popup w/ quiz at the end that is necessary to complete to do anything on steam

I think it's more to ward off against fraud than scamming.

What exactly is the fraud/scam this is trying to prevent? Or do you think it is just a saftey measure in general?

Chargebacks and stolen credit cards I'd imagine. A common thing to do is steal a cc on some new account that is able to trade/buy shit off market and then trade it off to proxy accounts that keeps going on and on until it's pretty hard to track.

A lot of people who trade like in the thousands of dollars get trade banned sometimes because they end up getting these keys and shit in their inventory because these guys unload them for like $1.40 or something on paypal.

i guarantee this is because of the thing that happened in csgo recently with the m4a4 griffin skin. this way, you can't put out some news about a skin being recalled or file a fake dmca against a skin in order to boost the price of it temporarily (people were buying griffins for like $200 or something).

but i'd imagine this was planned before that just because of how much steam accounts are getting hacked.

people selling shit on the market for keys on hijacked accounts and trying to sell them for $$$$
real reason ofc being to help stop people from buying the brand new items in crates off the market because valve

I also saw on the market that this now goes for CS:GO aswell, not only TF2. Haven't checked other games but I wouldn't be surprised if they were aswell.

Even if it gets pulled it probably won't go as high as it did, people have wizened up to the fact that it isn't as rare as Howl was and shouldn't be the same price
