Hey, just looking for reccomendations. My old turtle beach PX21 is a nice headset, but its getting a little old and glitchy.

Flat cost isn't a huge deal, most important to me is efficiency of money spent; if I spend a lot, then I want to get a really nice headset.

Thanks :)

i've had a pair of ATH-AD700 audio technica headphones for over a year now, and i love them

super comfortable and they sound pretty good, although i'm not that much of an audiophile

http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-AD700-Open-air-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B000CMS0XU

imo the hard thing would be finding a mic that you like to go with it

sorry if this isn't what you're looking for, but i think a headphone + mic combo is way better than a headset; i know someone else uses this headphone with a modmic and it works out perfectly for them

My recommendation is to get a good pair of headphones and a mic separately.

I recommend the ModMic. Ive had it for about a half a year now and I love it - http://www.modmic.com/
(only available for preordering the modmic 2.0 I believe)

Or a Zalman Zm-Mic1 - http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ
I know a LOT of people use this.

As for headphones, I dont really have much experience with them. I would go to a site like Head-Fi (http://www.head-fi.org/) and read up on reviews. You can search by quality, price, value, etc.

I own the Audio Technica ATH-AD700's (owned by the likes of b4nny, tyrone, and shrugger. AND FOX TOO). Really great headphones, very satisfied with them. I managed to get them on sale for 90 bucks! - http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-AD700-Open-air-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B000CMS0XU

EDIT: Fox beat me to it :P

I recommend against the ad700s as it feels like your head is in a vice after an hour or two.

OOVOOVI recommend against the ad700s as it feels like your head is in a vice after an hour or two.

Not true at all for me and I'm a pretty big guy.

Modmic is pretty amazing but they are on back order. As long as you don't mind the wait it should be fine. I've heard alright things about the Zalman but you get what you pay for in the end.

Sorry I guess I should have been more specific, but I am looking for a headset + mic combo in one device. I just think its simpler and in my current setup better (also im used to it :p).

I've heard nothing but good things from the CM Storm Sirus. It's at a pretty good price for a 5.1 headset.

Even my $30 Sennheisers are great. I would go with a better model than what I have (HD201).

SENNHEIESER PC 360
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PC-360-Headset-Gaming/dp/B003DA4D2U

I have this and the sounds are just exellent. Vocals are crisp and warm and balanced audio. The microphone is on par with the sound quality.
Sound positional is exellent to when i play games, very precise.

The build quality is very sturdy. I put my sennheiser ontop of my computer case and i end up tripping over and the headset just keep hitting the ground so many times. at least 50 times now. What im suprised is despite how many violent times the heatsets falls down , nothing got broken. It is still brand new.

Comfort: this case is open so music will bleed out and it feels very comfortable to wear and your ear wont touch the speakers.

Price may be premium but worthwile. As mention audio is exellent and sennheiser actually use the same audio quality as their regular headphone Sennheiser HD 558 which cost 180 usd.
