DA:I was released today and I've played a little bit of it. So far I have only defeated the first boss, or at least what seemed to feel like one. The game so far feels very much like a modern day Origins but better. So far, anyway. As far as combat goes, it's been pretty solid and fluid. While it does seem like real time combat works fine, managing the combat via tactical view to plan every party member's immediate actions feels like it's going to be incredibly important to learn and use later on.

The romance is still a thing, as well as party approval/disapproval to your decisions. Your decisions can also impact what you will be doing and how things around you react. A little side note here: these kinds of features are awesome and make games that much better.

I don't know how much of an open world it is yet, but I've got a suspicion that it will be open world a la Origins with a little more accessibility. The part I have played was more or less a "tutorial". It didn't necessarily throw itself at me as one, but it had a slight tutorial vibe.

Whatever the case, I'm actually having fun with this. It will probably suck up all my time until Witcher 3.

Anyway, who else has played it/is playing it? What are your thoughts?

Combat system bugs me a little. You have to hold mouse1 to do auto-attacks in this game on the person you're controlling. It doesn't seem like there's really a point for having it being that way. Tactical view is really strange if the terrain is uneven or if your target is far away and having to hold a button to attack on one character and then queue skills on the others is pretty counter-intuitive.

I also haven't played enough of the game to make a solid judgement of it or the story. I decided to make my first playthrough on nightmare difficulty because I've played through Origins quite a few times.

Fun so far. I wish there were little tweaks like button remapping or making it so you don't have to hold down a button to attack.

You can press or hold R to attack as well. Not sure if that helps your problem any, but it's there.

The only thing keeping me from playing this game at the moment is the tactical view. It doesn't go nearly as high as it needs to to be useful. Also, the "hold-down-the-button-to-auto-attack" thing bugs the hell out of me. Really doesn't make any sense, auto attacks should be... automatic. Having played a lot of Dragon Age: Origins, I'm having a real hard time getting used to this unintuitive control scheme.

Click to move needs to be added in some form without having to go into tactical view. I also get strange frame-rate issues now and then when I turn my camera. The looting is also strange, but I can get over it. I haven't got that far into the game, and I can certainly see the potential, but some small changes to how the camera works will make me enjoy the game a LOT more. I like to play these games strategically and right now its making it really hard to do that.

Yeah. Defeating the Pride Demon was difficult because of the camera, albeit not being too bad.

When you have to

Show Content
close the tear during the Pride Demon boss fight to be able to damage it and stop other demons from spawning

, the camera would move only so far back before it automatically entered tactical view, which is an uncomfortable transition when that's not what you're trying to do, and makes it more difficult to get the angle you should otherwise be able to reach easily.

I mean aside from that, I have no problems with it. I don't even have a problem with holding m1 or R to auto-attack. In fact, I'm not really sure why that's a problem, but to each their own.

As far as looting goes, you apparently, from my experience, can't loot when any dialogue is happening. This even means a random NPC's small talk when you're in the general vicinity. This is more "wtf why" than anything. I hope it gets changed.

If you read through the thread, the OP (or the source I guess) is likely full of shit. There have been no tests to support the claim and there haven't been any recorded FIFA 15 or Lords of the Fallen users experiencing difficulties with their SSDs.

I have nothing against pirating games, but lets be honest this isn't why you pirate games lol.
