2 of my friends were on the local water polo team back in high school, I even joined for a few practices after I left competitive swimming, all I remember is that it was intense as fuck...

I can only compare it to field hockey since its the most intense sport I played next to water polo

Wear 2 pair of speedos and dont cheap out on the teeth protection.
And waterpolo really depends how high the level is you want to play. If it's just a friendsteam, it's fun and not really voilent at all, at the higher level it is much much harder.
Also, be prepared for bruised fingers. But that's all the damage I had from playing it for 10 years.
Also, if you're not a dick to the opponents, they are generally nice to you as well.

Make sure to grab a few beers after every match/training.

Serious response, I used to swim competitively and we played water polo at practice some days as our workout. I'd rather just swim 8000 yards, it will destroy you.

Not to be negative, but if you're not in very good shape and aren't a really strong swimmer, you're gonna have a bad time. Did you ever have swim lessons where you were required to tread water for a certain amount of time, until you felt like you were going to drown, but every time you wanted to call it quits the instructor just pushed you away from the side of the pool? It's like that, except to be effective you also need to be able to lift your entire torso out of the water using only your legs.

Also I'll be the hundredth person to say this but, lol @ this thread being on tftv

You know, where I come from swimming is typically a winter sport... competitive swimming pools tend to be indoors.

thmpsnSpannzerWhat the hell is water polowhy do you post in the thread if you dont know what it is

well you just replaced the phrase "water polo" with "longboard," so yes it is like that.

it's also like participating in a jelqing thread without know what a jelq is.
