I searched and read some previous threads on this but was curious what the latest was. Who's using Win8.1 and what issues are people running into?

Any annoying bugs with Steam, Lawena, Mumble, ESEA client, SrcDemo2 etc?

I've been using it since January, no issues but I don't play ESEA. Mumble requires most recent version as they've been doing some updates.

Mumble sometimes hides itself from the taskbar and I have to re open it for the start menu, apart from that I haven't had any problems

I've just used Steam and Mumble and they've worked smooth as a whistle.

Windows 8.1 made it impossible for me to use 2 displays and still get smooth 120Hz.
Even disabling all Visual Effects didn't remove it completely.

In the end I switched back to 7 since disabling Aero actually makes everything 100% smooth

no problems with steam or mumble, lawena sometimes doesn't close completely - deleting cfgs etc.

In the beginning my steam kept just closing itself during source games but then Microsoft updated shit and since then everything works just fine.

No problems at all with source games and steam. I rarely run into issues with Mumble, usually a simple close/restart of Mumble works.

bought a windows 8.1 laptop a month or two ago, tf2 seems to run well on it.

Related to Steam / TF2 / relevant apps: Not much, but TF2Center's "Connect to Mumble" button doesn't work if Mumble is open before pressing the button. Dunno if that's TF2Center's fault or Mumble's, but it's nothing major at all.

Unrelated to Steam / TF2: About 2 months ago I did a system update and W8.1 couldn't detect my laptop's built-in webcam nor fingerprint scanner. Found out it was something with processor files but all's good...for now.

using 8.1 on my new build and absolutely love it. was obviously hesitant about using it going in after all the negative things i had heard but after doing research there are a lot of performance benefits to using it over win7 not to mention it will obviously be supported longer as well. you shouldn't have problems compatibility wise with basic stuff like steam/tf2/mumble/etc.

I've only experienced slight stuttering/refresh rate problems with dual monitors (144Hz + 60Hz) in windowed mode. Full screen works fine.

Thats because windows 8 forces v-sync if you play windowed since theres no real way to disable areo in it with the way metro works afaik.

I've never experienced this problem, I've disabled vsync for TF2 via nvidia control panel

I've had stability issues with mumble and tf2 on my 8.1 desktop that I never ran into on my 7 laptop. I think I'll try 7 just to see if it'll have any effect.

Run Windows 8 (no 8.1) with an app called Start Windows 8. You'll get the best of both worlds. At least from what I'm experiencing so far.
