I liked it. The issue isn't over edits, in this case it may be people over analyzing a minute long video.

deliIt would be better if it would go more with music also ingame sounds would help
also this scene https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/66306366/ilikeit.JPG first time i see that kind rl footage in tf2 edit,it fits and i like it a lot. Colorcorection is good, Music is pretty nice (if u can provide the artist i would like to check this out). Idea with narration in the beginning is setting nice tone and feel to rest of the clip which is dope. I hate this overlay at 0:35 and that 0:36 fx (Vegas is poor in this kind of stuff).

but hey what do I know right? anyway good job looking forward to see more of these in future.

I really appreciate the input. Yeah, I agree with all your points; some of my choices in the editing were questionable and bad. The song is chrysalis by limalo: https://soundcloud.com/limalooo/chrysalis

you know our community is lacking good editors when some of the most mediocre editors ever find a chance to wave their dicks around in the comments

i talk about over-editing a lot, but when it's a short video like that obviously has direction behind it i don't mind it that much. it was pretty nice, even if it was a trip.

atmoIf you sync to every single beat in the song, it loses its impact.

See tornproductions for prime examples

I liked the video though!

AlmieSorry mate, but all of those videos with the exception of 1 or 2 are pretty damn boring to me.

How are any of them boring? I'm actually curious. They are some of the absolute best videos ever made. This isn't really even coming from me as an opinion. All of those videos are done brilliantly.

In most cases its the absolutely terrible editing (and mainly colour correction, eugh) that bothers me, sometimes overused music, sometimes the lack of editing, sometimes mediocre frags (also that one 4:3 video, wtf?). Now, a good bit of these videos are still entertaining, but only for about 3-5 minutes, then it gets really boring. The exceptions are PREM by CUBE and The Experiment highlights, but then again, even though those videos are well done and entertaining I wouldnt dare to call them the best of all time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkyzTu-Owd8 <- now that is a longer video that I can watch being entertained from the beginning to the end enjoying everything, the music, the frags, the editing.

Do you actually play TF2? It sounds like you don't even enjoy any video where the frags are the focus.

I do, for example I could watch ShadowBurns fragclips for hours. I just dont like mediocre frags being glorified, only because theyre against high division players. Or videos where frags are supposed to be the focus but I cant stop thinking about how terrible the editing is. Or videos with ok frags and editing that last 10 minutes with the same kind of frags repeating, it gets old.

Why can't everyone just like what they want to like? There is no right or wrong answer here, if you enjoy watching videos with more of an emphasis on the frags, or would rather watch something where the editing is the primary focus then that should be your right. Even if you don't like watching Googler's videos, you can still appreciate the ridiculous amount of time that went into them, while likewise, even if you don't like watching frag shows you can still recognize the frags. There's merit in both styles, and I don't think it's a matter of choosing one or the other, but rather liking whatever you like.

The same arguments get repeated over and over again for every video, and this discussion has been played out so many times there's nothing to be gained here. As Jay's thread has been hijacked, to bring it back to the video I thought it was fairly well done for one of your first videos despite some of the questionable velocity at times in addition to some effects not quite fitting. While it's important to take the advice given in this thread, ultimately remember that you're editing for yourself, not others. You're not going to enjoy yourself if you're just creating videos to try to appeal to the broadest audience possible, and who's to say how you can or cannot edit if you're having a good time doing it.

atmoIf you sync to every single beat in the song, it loses its impact.

needed2quotedis

But majority of tryhard fragvids will still be synced to every single beat cause the kids found out they can display waveforms in their NLE and they feel that their editorial superiority grows with every edit they place at any given transient, regardless of how meaningless it is.

Yes, there has to be a place for "can't see shit captain" ridiculous overedits, sure, let people do their thing. But, CAN WE STOP IT WITH SLOW MOTION EDITING TO THE DREAMY TWANGY PIANO BELL PAD FOLEY ROOM DRUM HAZEY MUSICS, PLEAAAAAAASE, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. Especially when its mainly sniper killstreaks timewarped together. I wish I could block that shit from my Youtube pre-emptively.

Click clack, pling plang, *downpitched snare*, reverbed chimes, faint handclap, more reverb, EVEN MORE REVERB. BARF.

This music used to be moderately enjoyable when not every song sounded exactly like the previous one.

The flamewars are real, holy shit

Gois, gois, this is an entertaining video, although it may not be the best it's certainly not the worst, and if you give Jay's channel a look she's improved a lot.

Oh yeah, and you all look like stupid bastards for arguing about a short Internet video made by an amateur creator who's still quite great at what she's doing.

I like all sort of fragvideos, Super simple ones like Fragged by TLR or highly edited ones like the experiment video. But at some point I still need to be able to tell what is going on. I get that the edit is about the editor and not the frag in this example, but when I literally can't SEE THE KILL why even bother using tf2 to start with? Either way seems like you know your way around whatever editing program you use and hope you improve.

For reference, I know nothing about editing. Or how grammar works.
