Great to see another tf2 tournament appear and great to see someone put an investment into the game!
That aside, I think there are a few issues in how it's run, probably due to inexperience in running tf2 tournaments. If these issues are adressed, this will be a great event!

What is the whitelist? ESEA or Cevo?
And the round win rules appear to be very confusing, could you please clarify them?
Edit: Also, what maps will be used in this tournament?

cool to see new things like this

this might be a struggle though:

All teams must be ready at their match starting time. If a team is more than 7 minutes late the team will lose their place and a standby team will take their place. If the standby team is not ready within 10 minutes the ready team will win the match and move forward.

A match will be the best of 3 rounds. To win a team must win the last 2 rounds of a match, or else another round will be required until 5 rounds have been played. After 5 rounds the team with the most rounds won will win the match and move forward.

...what?

So if a team wins the 1st round but loses the 2nd and 3rd they lose the match, but if they lose the 1st round, win the 2nd, and lose the 3rd the game continues for 1-2 more rounds? ??

Also BO3s will be 5-15 minute games.

Ohhh the round rule just made sense... it essentially makes rolls end at 3 and makes real games go to 5.

TurinOhhh the round rule just made sense... it essentially makes rolls end at 3 and makes real games go to 5.

its best of 3

so it will end if a team wins the first two rounds, or if 1 team wins the first round and then the other wins the next two.

both of these are situations that are not necessarily going to be rolls

edit: it would make more sense if a 3-0 was an automatic win and otherwise it went to 5. But why not just use regular 6v6 rules?

I admit I am a TF2 noob, but I like the game :). We are looking for a coordinator to help, especially the day of. If you, or someone else is interested, please feel free to contact me at through a PM or steam.

  • A match will last until 5 rounds have been won, the first team to reach 5 rounds won will win the match and move forward until the Semi-Finals. At the Semi-Finals and Finals, the best of 3 map wins (5 rounds to win each map.) will move forward or win the tournament.
  • Map Rotation (Up to the Semi-Finals): Badlands, Granary, Process, Gullywash, Snakewater, and Viaduct. A team can eliminate one map. The two maps chosen by the two teams will be removed and the match map will be randomly chosen from the remaining maps. At the Semi-Finals and Finals each team can eliminate one map, and choose one map to play. The third map will be randomly chosen from the non-played, non-eliminated maps.

Might want to take fastlane out of the rotation and put in a different map, its not really a map we play in 6s at all right now. I'd probably suggest either gullywash, viaduct, snakewater, or process, as those are more staple 6s maps that people will know how to play well.

In regards to the map pool, why don't you add one more map ( I would suggest Metalworks, as it is in rotations this season. This would allow you to have:

Team A and B both ban one map

Team A and B both pick one map. These two maps are played.

If it is a tie after two maps, Team A and B both ban one map. The remaining map is played as the tiebreaker.

That sounds like a good idea, but isn't each map about 30 minutes with 5 rounds? It's only a one day tournament, so we can't have too many matches in it.

Teams will use their own server, unless their match is chosen for official broadcast/shoutcasting. Teams will know this before the day of the tournament. We will try to match you with a team that has a server, if you do not. If we find there's not enough teams with servers, we'll launch more servers to cover it.

I misread the way this works, only one map is being played? In that cae, why not add Metalworks anyways, and then have each team ban three maps. That way, there is no randomness.

Also, matches are 5 rounds, but p[layed in two 30 minute halves, at least in Open.

why not use normal 6s rules…?

have a 30min timer for each half/one half if you want to shorten games but why not play first to 5 rounds and whoever has the most after 30mins, use a EU config if you like

just seems inconvenient

the maps look good besides granary but whatever

how many teams can signup? since i think you shouldn't limit it

We can add Metalworks. I think the rest may stay as it is. I may remove the randomness though and go with something like you said, because it might become messy especially for the first set of matches to have to coordinate. But if the two teams eliminate the same map, there would still need to be something to decide one of the maps left over. Unless we do: Team A eliminates one, Team B eliminates one (but can't choose one Team A already eliminated), etc.

Sorry for the late response.

It is single elimination.

There may be other prizes, however, until I finalize what's available I'm not going to say with 100% certainty that there will be other prizes or what they are. I didn't think of TF2 keys, I'm guessing you can gift them through steam?

Unfortunately the tournament has to be postponed. Too many teams have dropped out and it wouldn't be a very fair or entertaining tournament. We will try again in a couple of weeks! Hopefully give more teams a chance to get organized and ready?

Anyways, we will be holding some tournaments for some other games as well. Be sure to checkout livegaming.co for the upcoming information about those!

Again, sorry to anyone looking forward to it, or participating!
