I want to integrate the closed caption thing that I've seen used w/ Gmang hud. Is it just stock? Or is it a particular thing Gmang added? If he added it, what file is it in so I can add it to another hud?

Yeah, I've seen Plat use it. It basically gives you on screen messages for various things happening within the game. I think some of it would be pretty cool to have, but I like my current hud, so I'm just trying to figure out how to edit those messages so the ones I want show up in my hud.

Just grab the closecaption_english.dat files from g-mang hud's resource folder.

You'll need to adjust the positioning in hudlayout.res though.

Another option for TF2 closed captioning: http://code.google.com/p/tf2captions/

Okay, so I used the tf2captions that was linked in #4, and it works great except for one issue... I tried to tweak and edit the closecaption_english.txt, and none of the changes seem to have taken effect. I wanted to get rid of some of the messages, and change colors of some of the others, but it's still not changing in game. Any idea how to actually change those things?

I restarted tf2, tried exec autoexec, hud_reloadscheme...

I still have my original copies he and I think plat used/edited if you need them.

There's a specific script that you need if you want to customize them. Not sure if anyone else has it anymore. Let me know if you need it doggy.

#7 I have no experience in coding w/ Python :\

#6 BUICK, definitely hit me up with that script, I'd love to be able to edit these closed captions. I added you on steam cause I couldn't figure out a way to PM you on here (I don't think it's a feature that's been added yet).

Okay, so I'm still not quite clear on how to do this. I downloaded the stuff from captioneer, and I edited the .txt files to my liking. How do I make them take effect in game? Do I need to be doing something in Python?
