Even though this is Team Fortress, it's not TF2 so figured I should post this here.

Grand finals are tonight for the ozfortress TFC season 3 4v4, with two very strong teams battling it out for first place, #tag and wdw (who would have thought?) Both teams came up against each other last season's finals, with #tag handily taking the win. The question is whether it will be a repeat or not? ir_pegg has a computer that doesn't run at 10fps, and wdw have been looking stronger by the day. Time will tell.

Tune in tonight 02/04 ~20:00 AEDT GMT+11 at ozfortresstfc to see who will be victorious

Maps:
shutdown2
ss_nyx_ectfc
schtop (decider)
Rosters:

#tag
wolfeh - engineer on defence
rowlie - soldier on defence
bennae - soldier/demoman on defence
acey - heavy on defence

wdw - who dares wins
ir_pegg - heavy on defence
rikta - soldier on defence
wabs - soldier on defence
convex - engineer/demoman on defence

EDIT: time edited due to season frag show being delayed

pretty cool - I didn't know anyone organized competitive TFC anymore. I'll have to check out the VOD: (link for anyone interested)

unfortunately, the NA TFC scene seems pretty dead. if anyone's interested though, there are 2v2-4v4 pugs that happen semi-daily in #tfc.invite on gamesurge.

thanks for sharing, yook.

Makes me miss TFC. It's capture the flag. So you get 30 minutes, or in 4v4's 15 minutes. 15 minutes playing offense, then 15 minutes playing defense.

When it was still alive it was 8v8 or 9v9 depending on the map (usually ctf), and usually you'd run 4-5 defense, and 4 offense. There were some rules like no pot shotting (offenses shooting offenses purposely) to make it more fair. Lots of grenade spam though. The movement/concing makes it play a hell of a lot faster than TF2 and the hit boxes are much smaller.

People still pug NA tfc here and there from what I recall but it's mostly dead. A lot of those guys play FF now, or did. I started playing TFC back in 1999. So did Phaser. I tried to get a lot of the old school guys into TF2 but a lot simply don't have the time nor do they like TF2's gameplay being so slow. It took me a while to adjust to it as well. Way more team oriented and coordination in TF2. In TFC if you were a beast soldier, ahem, you could kill 4 medics in a row repeatedly shutting down certain choke points. Instant respawns and grenades if a pack was nearby. Never a dull moment. There's not many good tfc videos out there that really show the games real play/timing. Back then all we had was podcast like Gunslinger doing radio casts as if you were listening to radio in your car. No streaming etc. Near the end videos came out more and more but the true pinnacle of the game was missed unfortunately. Community lasted about 10 years which is pretty remarkable.

Frag show should be up sometime later today. I'll post a link for that here if people are interested.

I believe Season 4 of ozfortress TFC is starting in about a week or so. With talent from some of the top teams being spread around to make parity and make it more fair, this season is going to be extremely close all around.

So basically, shutdown2 ramp? :D

I also believe I might be doing camerawork for some of the big games, so that should be interesting o_O

Also wheaties plays in one of the teams in ozfortress, :P

TFC pickups still happen regularly in the US. Every evening on either #tfc.invite or #inhouse (inhouse is a lot more active but is 'restricted', but assuming you aren't a complete douche or cheater it's pretty easy to be invited). On the weekends during the afternoon there's generally more pickups on the uk as players from US and EU both play @ #tfc.pickup on quakenet.

I've been playing pretty regularly during the evening recently, there's just something about the variety and pace that I've yet to find in another game.
