Hi, I decided after using many different HUDs that the only way I'll get one that I will keep is to make it myself, I am planning on using many different parts of other HUDs to get a final result that I will ultimately love. There is one problem with this, however. I have no idea what I am doing. I tried reading flame's guide but it didn't go over some of the things I'm looking for probably due to the age of the guide, example: your health is green while over healed, white while normal and red while critical. This is the first thing that I'm about to modify although I don't doubt that I will need a LOT more help. If there are any HUD pros out there who are willing to add me and answer (probably a lot) of questions that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My advice would be to take an existing HUD that you mostly like and tweak it if you're just learning. I've been doing that for about a year to Dashner's OMPhud edit and I love my current look.

I still refer to this quite frequently to find exactly where things are.

You can add me if you like and I can walk you through the basics.

Sure!

Your answers are in

resource/ui/hudplayerhealth.res
scripts/hudanimations.txt

First, set y and x values to what you want flashing.
Now copy other hudanimations and overwrite the HUD's overheal and half health pulses.

HudHealthBonusPulse
HudHealthBonusPulseStop
HudHealthDyingPulse
HudHealthDyingPulseStop
