4670k @ 4.3ghz here, never dips below 230 fps on dx81 config (crossfire 7870s - doubt dx9 would hurt my frames at all)
you definitely want to at least get a mild oc going for better frames in tf2
(i'd go higher but ambient temps are too high atm for it lol)

my 4770k overclocked can go to like 800 or even more crazy shit sometimes, cap it at 240. its essentially a 4670k with hyper threading

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2pD2c this is what Im getting and its a lot cheaper. (sorry to ask my own questions in this thread) Should I invest a bit more in a better processor?

Can some one tell me the difference between 4770k and 4670k?
Are they not basically the same cant i get like 240fps with a 4670k OC,d?
On max settings? Or Medium
Ik the 4770 is hyper treaded but will the make a big fps difference

regarding the 4770k; you wont get any different fps with the i7 (hyperthreading) in tf2 - in fact i cant see hyperthreading benefiting you in any games currently

what it does it essentially add 4 'virtual' cores to the 4 physical cpu cores of the 4670k - but no games at the moment can utilize more than 4, rendering the virtual cores useless for gaming
