what saber is saying is that because pyro has a low skill ceiling the only way to get better is to practice airblast timing in matches/pubs.

to add to what they say, i notice you have 14 hours on pyro. mentors, imo, are more for honing your skills and learning placement/coordination with your team. make sure to get the basics down first, then try to get a mentor. also naming your division is helpful for these types of things.

Generally speaking, there's three mistakes you see pyros make, pending they know how to airblast (you know, you use the degreaser or default):

Roaming too much, this can mean chasing a spy for too long, not being near enough to your team to help fights or getting 2v1'd. Some of this is timing, knowing when you're going to have to be near the combo, knowing when you should be able to help a weak flank. (think spy-time and whether your medic is safe)

Not looking up/behind. Awareness of your surroundings is really important. Most sixes pyros know the role pyro plays for them, delaying ubers and spamming airblast on last points. This, sadly, dumbs down a very passive and defensive role. (think "where would i want to hide if i were trying to get past, or what would i do to get past)

Knowing when to airblast and when to just let it slide. Spam happens a lot in this game, and most of it is dodged with ease. Knowing when (and how, timing wise) to airblast each projectile better than just pushing everything away. In a 1v1, you lose NOTHING airblasting 4 rockets or 4 pills, (you lose 80 ammo, and get 100 from their dropped weapon), but denying the movement of your opponent is more important as it helps you get your flares/rs/shotgun in.

A good way to practice airblasting is playing dodgeball (usually maps with dbs_[name]) and a good way to practice your positioning and awareness is to just play more.

yeah i agree with ploxo sometimes pyros let go of mouse1 and don't press mouse2 instantly as if there are other things to do just avoid those things and you'll win
