Hello I have been listening to a lot of music lately and would like to share and discuss with others :)
Whatchu been listening to this year and what should I check out? What are your AOTY contenders thus far?
So far this year I have really been enjoying Snooze - I KNOW HOW YOU WILL DIE a lot! A really seamless blend of prog metal with math rock sensibilities. Lovely vocal performances that alternate between clean and screamed, yet the record never lets up on the heaviness. It's best listened to front to back without skips. Really brilliantly sequenced! Just an absolute treat for the ears :)
Earlier this year I really got a kick out of the new Panchiko record. Best way I can describe it is 'Radiohead makes a trip-hop record'.
A recent record that just came out which I've been digging a lot is Subnormal Drives by ByoNoiseGenerator. Only just heard of this band through this record but this is some intense mathgrind with some sax thrown in there for good measure. Definitely gonna be giving this one some more spins.
TURNSTILE SUMMER
As for what's to come, I'm really looking forward to The Armed record getting released next week :)

I am a friggin music glutten. I could ramble about band xyz from my super-duper-mega-ultra playlist for hours on end. Here are some albums I've had on repeat for the past week. I'll limit it to ones that many people may not know.
Tally Hall - Literally Anything. Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum and Good & Evil are sneaky peaks for top 100 albums of all time, and Hawaii Part II (Although technically not Tally Hall) is up there too.
Autoheart - Punch, specifically Moscow, Lent, and Stalker's Tango. I dunno why but they just hit the spot, Moscow especially even if it's a just another love song.
Ween - The Mollusk & Quebec. Ween (yes, the one from Spongebob) either makes God Tier, S Tier music like The Mollusk, The Argus, Tried and True, or actual penis core.
Frank Valli & The Four Seasons - Best Hits. Disco never dies and December 1963 goes so hard its unbelievable.
(Breaking my own rules cause they're not small) Vampire Weekend - Contra. These songs, Horchata, Holiday, Run, and Diplomat's Son (especially Diplomat's Son) are just awesome.
I don't listen to too much modern music - autotune is a God damn sin - but AOTY is probably going to be Don't Tap on The Glass.
Harked kinda goes hard. I'm not a fan of screamo metal generally, but it's more upbeat than most of it and it stands out a lot.
PS - If any one ever wants to ramble about music or listen to someone ramble about music dm me cause I could genuinely talk for hours about this. my thesis advisor is a part time musician so this stuff gets drilled into my work too.
