TF2 keeps remembering active weapon between lives

TF2 has a setting in advanced settings labelled "Remember Active Weapon between lives." Basically, if you have your Shotgun out when you die, you'll spawn with that same weapon out.

While some may be a fan of that, I'm personally not into it. And in situations like MGE/DM, I'll spawn with shotty and because I have viewmodels off for primary and secondary weps I'll sometimes accidentally try to RJ with my shotty.

I've tried unchecking the setting and it never sticks for more than 1 session (i.e. when I restart TF2 it goes back to being checked)

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Try

tf_remember_activeweapon "0"

in your autoexec

Try
tf_remember_activeweapon "0"
in your autoexec

Try to find the console command (should be tf_ something, maybe tf_weapon_remember_active or something like that, type in console and you'll find it) and then paste it in your autoexec.cfg. If you don't already have one, create a notepad file called "autoexec" without the "", then paste the command there. The autoexec file automaticly executes the commands inside everytime tf2 starts.

check your config.cfg and all other configs for tf_remember_activeweapon "1".
Change it to 0.
