This may have already come up, but have you considered doing this semi-annually. Twice the donations, with enough time in between to let people's wallets recover from the last one.

It's a lot of work for the team involved. I mean, maybe if we had a ton more people willing and capable of helping out with stuff, but as it is it doesn't seem possible to produce two high-quality events per year.
Think of Kurt's poor butt.

Tried to do something with Lorg's idea of a tipped cowboy hat or something. It's kind of poopy but you get the idea kinda. Lavender is the general cancer ribbon color.
