1. go to twitch.tv and make an account with a name that is easy for people to remember.
2. check through all of your relevant account settings and make sure you are happy.
3. download a streaming program such as xsplit or open broadcaster software.
4. link your twitch.tv account to your streaming program and gogogo!

Don't actually bug Slin though, there is a Sub forum dedicated to stream applications. Unless... Slin wants you to bother him :P

bearodactylWould a quad core phenom 955 and a 660 ti work?

I'm not really qualified to answer this, but when I started streaming I had some type of Phenom and it was constantly at 100% usage, rendering me unable to stream. Now, you CPU may be better than mine was back when I had it.

What I'm saying is it doesn't hurt to try, that's how I learned :3

As many other streamers can tell you, mostly every streamer uses Desktops rather than Laptops unless they have a very "beefy" laptop. I was never a fan of Apple's computers so I can't tell you if what you have will work.

Latest model as in the 'retina' one or the other ones? Probably would make you lag a shitton, even if its the higher end i7 version.)
My cpu is usually at like 40%. I guess I might as well just try it. Does it get more laggy if you have more viewers? Or is it always the same
*40% in game on tf2 1080p*

Having a lot of viewers has the same effect as have zero viewers. Nothing happens. The only lag that you would have would be either connection or FPS lag. Also, is your CPU at 40% while playing TF2 or just looking at videos and such.

Yeah, Twitch has their own servers you stream to. You're not streaming directly to the viewers, which would mean this would happen. The only way a lot of viewers can affect a stream is if Twitch is having issues.

yeah like people said, you only need to worry about your own computer performance and the speed of your Internet connection. there are twitch servers all over the place, so make sure you're picking one close to you.

it's also worth noting that everything I listed is free, so it really doesn't cost you anything or hurt you to attempt to stream. the big thing about streaming is that it's a time investment to get started building a channel, and if you don't stream regularly then it's not worth getting into.
