Steam beta to use server browser?

Suddenly the server browser is telling me I need to be in the Steam beta to use it. Is this normal?

I restarted to change to beta, but now that I switched back and restarted again, it works.

This error can show when your session with Steam somehow becomes interrupted or corrupted. Simply restarting Steam will fix it in most cases.

The only time I've ever seen this occur is when you use a torrented game that otherwise uses steam while steam is open. Restarting fixes it from what I've been told :>
